An Askari and his master
« on: 05 January 2010, 03:14:00 PM »
G'day all  :)

A (porpably) german Askari and his older master. I did them as a little commission - the pics are taken by Phobos - Thank you man!

Enjoy,
Stephan

I would never have gone for a white beard between that helmet and shirt but this shows what little I know. Nice.

Good, very good. Like the skin tone of askari. The trousers with german colours is a great idea.

Beautiful figures - I particularly love the pitted blade on his machete. Very realistic!  :D

Excellent Reg, like the off white shirt on the hunter and the shading on his pith helmet. One of my favourite DA white men too, top job  8)

Thank you mates for all these kind words  :)

@Svenn: I did it so, because I have never seen a picture of another coloured hat (ok, some off-white and beige tones) and my dad got some old comics which show these hats in a bright white.

@Admiral Benbow: Anyway, I am not sure if these trousers ever exist - nah, I don't think so. It's a little bit "trashy" but it was lot of fun to paint and we had this part of history over the last few months in the school so I was fixed by the Kaiser's soldiers and Askaris.

@Prof.: Well, it's GW Scorched Brown (I used the vallejo equivalent to it), then mix in Vallejo Mahogany Brown. Use Mahogony Brown as the first highlight then and then mix in Vallejo Ivory or Dark Sand as the final highlights.

@bugsda: Oh, stay tuned.  The miniature is as good as sendet to the casters  ::)

sounds like my recipe, only I mix GW scorched brown with Plaka Brown (was a hint from Tom Weiss) and then with Vallejo Ivory :)
