Best mix/brands of 15mm Sudan figures
« on: 07 January 2010, 02:20:44 PM »
New genre (15mm) for me.

I started with Stone Mountain Ansar and Bejas (very nice), one unit of British (Zulu War regalia,) and have Old Glory 15s Egyptian infantry coming.

I have  a list of Peter Pig figs I will order today (my birthday present!  Happy Birthday to me! :)  ) unless I get a "no go" from y'all.

What do you think?   Peter Pig, Old Glory and Stone Mountain Sudanese and Brits?   Good mix?

What are your other choices for 15 manufacturers?  Recommendations, please.

the main 15mm manufactures i tend to use are
old glory
minifigs
essex
peter pig

my sudan stuff is made up of peter pig and OG15s
my zulu war/boer war is made up of ... OG15s and minifigs and essex
and napoleonics .. OG15s and essex

have a look at minifigs... they do some nice sudan figures but they may be a tad small and dated for some people

Yes, I have a large list of Peter Pig stuff ready to order.   Lot's of civilians in their other ranges are suitable as well.

I have two units of Fuzzys, two Ansar and one Ansar Rifle unit (20 figs each for SATF) of Stone mountain so far.

I need real Sudan Brits. (The Zulu War unit is fine as a versatile platoon, but time to get a serious unit)

My Egyptians are Old Glory, which are fine for starters (two and a half units)

I'll get cavalry, and arty units after I have an established set up of @160 Dervish infantry and thee British/ancillary units.

I forgot about Minifigs,  I have some future GFI purchases, it looks like.

My Egyptians and Fuzzies are Essex - lovely figures but the moulds are showing their age. Would probably go for Peter Pig if I was starting now.

Take a look at the old two dragons range now available from Dixion miniatures. I saw them years ago but lost track of them. Now I've found them again the Sudan is back on my to do list.
