Victorian Factory/Mill WIP
« on: January 08, 2010, 11:58:38 PM »
Hi All,

Just started my first terrain piece a mill/factory for my Victorian/VBCW. First three sections come together.

Next the outer buildings and the chimney.

Couldn't sleep so ended up working til the small hours. Got the outer buildings and chimney started so the overall building will have this layout with the larger 3 pieces able to be re-used separately if needed.

Pleased with it so far, windows and doors next

Looking good, the chimney sets it off nicely. :)

Looks great so far - is that plastic brick sheet on the chimmney and base building?

Needs many coats of dark weathering, to be a proper Victorian dark, satanic mill!

Lovely stuff, you've got the look just right. Big chimneys for factories are like rivets for contraptions in the Victorian world.  ;)

That is a great idea!

Fascinating project...

Thanks Ray,

First part of a large industrial area and I hope to add a dock area with railway. Just got interested in VSF and VBCW after many years of modern microarmour. Always wanted to do something like this and this forum is just inspirational. Also got interested in WWWII now. Help! So many projects so little time! :)

Is that foam core you are using?
What glue do you use to attach the plastic card?

Hi,

Thanks, I use Bostik Extra Strong Adhesive seems to work well and doesn't dissolve the foamcore.

I have found that if you use too much the fumes penatrate the card and do attack the foam underneath, but as long as you use it sparingly there won't be a problem.

Looking forward to an update, I assume that the buildings are all separate.

Help! So many projects so little time! :)

I feel your pain!   :'(

Personally, I've set a couple priorities which I'm trying to concentrate on, but as soon as things start to feel a bit stale, I jump over to another project to keep the old painting mojo going.

Getting things actually finished does wonders for the spirit!   ;)

Tally ho!  (As they say...)

Looking good. That’s seem to be quite a large building. Can you put a 28mm figures next to it when taking your pictures of the next steps to give us a better idea of its size?
