I must admit that I didn't want to get back into the Zulu Wars but after seeing the Empress figures online, and then at a show, I was quite impressed. The quality of Paul Hick's sculpting is simple great, clearly some of his best work to date. All that said, I don't know if I like the cavalry horse poses all that much. I should however stipulate that the harnessing and reins on the horses is absolutely first class, and I wish all manufacturers would do them like this instead of a single solid blob of metal/plastic. Yet, for me, the horse poses just don't look all that good. Moreover, the horses appear to be a bit large for S. Africa, where disease and such killed many a European horse. All that said, the Empress range is indeed a great one and makes any other a poor second cousin. I would definitely recommend buying their figures.
