My Pulp City- new: 100 Voices, Bramble, Feartigo etc. (p. 20)
« on: January 24, 2010, 06:42:30 PM »
I have never posted pictures of my minis to Lead Adventures Forum before, so i thought I'd post my Pulp City minis. I alos have a lot of Superfigs that I may get around to photographing, as well as Mutants and Madmen (Black Hat) and sundry others, so you may get that I am a superhero minitures nut.

I have really become enamoured of the Pulp City minis, generally loving the whole range. So much so that I have set myself a goal this year to paint at least one example of every available mini.

Here are the first examples for posting. Comments and criticism (and any advice!) welcome. :)

Some very nice work indeed, Leon. I am particularly impressed with Mourn, Trail, and Nuke, in no particular order. Particularly so with Trail, as I don't really care for the sculpt as such, but you've done quite a job with him, and the paint job makes him quite presentable:)

Thanks.

I ought to be honest and say that Chmp Chi was painted verrrryy quickly, just to get something 'done', and so even though he turned out okay, it didn't take very long, maybe an hour or two in total. <where is the shame emote...?>

Thanks Doc. I tend to prefer the more 'spandex-y' or typical supers type models, which for me includes those you mentioned. Trail I have loved since first seeing previews of it, and I plan to paint a second eventually. On another board I have seen a wildly inventive one where someone has added a top hat and has painted a garish but appropriate colour scheme, with gribbly stuff threatening to encroach. Here is the link.

Three more minis. I may start a second thread to show my non-Pulp City minis that I have photographed recently.

Blood Rose: painted a while ago, I wasn't overly happy with the results so may try again at some point.

Harrier: one of the first Pulp City minis I finished. As you can see by the fuzzyness I am still getting to grips with photographing minis.

Gentleman: probably among the first couple of Pulp City minis I finished, I think. My painting is changing from years of painting GW armies to now focusing on individuals. If I did this one again, there are a couple of things I would do differently (like a blue wash on the guns for a little contrast like I did on Howler). No prizes for guessing the inspiration for the colour scheme...

Great stuff! Howler is my favorite mini there, and you did a super job on him!

I can't say I've ever been overly interested in the Pulp City game (I'd probably be the only Melbournian playing it) but I think a few of these will certainly find their way onto my painting pile before the year is out. I love the contrast work you've done on Nuke.

I love Nuke. I have been lucky enough to see some of these minis in the flesh, and Nuke's pic doen't do him justice.

I always check out Leon's Blog Pulp Citizen every time I log on (right after I check out my own). It's loaded with useful tips, great pics and some random ramblings.

Thanks Rob.

My latest completed mini. Ace of Wraiths has taken months from start to finish, mainly of sitting on the shelf with little being done. I have mixed feelings about the end result, but included is my first OSL attempt.

Ace of Wraiths:

Also, I rephotographed Solar after a bit of touch up recently. The model had been 'finished' for some time, but then I noticed a chip and went back and added some highlights in a couple of places.

Some minis painted a while ago. I have some more to photograph but have just started experiencing camera problems. Grrr.
