Germy's Micro Minis...any scale pictures?
« on: January 25, 2010, 03:49:59 AM »
I've been interested in Germy's Micro Minis 2mm miniatures for some time:

http://www.gtns.co.uk/store1/commerce.cgi?product=gmm&keywords=&cart_id=4250801.9942&exact_match=on&next=0

I know they are small...but are they too small?  It's hard to tell without any point of reference.  Does anyone have any?  Can you take some scale pictures next to other miniatures, or perhaps other household items that I can compare them to, like american coins, forks, paperclips, andything?

Thanks.

Have a look at http://www.tinytintroops.co.uk/Res/3mm/Sci-Fi/3mm_Sci-Fi.htm

The bases are all 30mm square so from that you can get an idea of the size of the figures.

Also http://www.miniaturereview.com/Media.aspx?process=view_record&rid=182 has a comparison but it is a bit hard to see the figures to id them in my mind.

Hope this helps

The first one does, thanks..  The second one isn't much use as I don't know the size of any of those other minis.  Still, it'd be cool to see some comparisons to something that I "recognize" or at least a 15mm foos soldier or a 28mm model, or something.

Hi, give me a moment to dig out some comparison shots I have on my PC.
In the meantime I do have some pictures all on 30mm hex bases and some along side some GZG 6mm mini's.
2mm Mini's
6mm comparisons

Hope that helps

I've actually seen your site before, but it does help.  Nice to see you are on these forums.  Since you are here, let me hit you with my obscene idea:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/41186/monopoly-city

Imagine your minis plowing through a game board built of about 300 of these buildings!  :)

Unfortunately, I haven't come across a rule set I like yet.  Almost all the ones I see are either traditional to the point of being sort of boring, too old-school and either over complicated or too hard to simply understand, of too concerned with trying to be "realistic".  I want something fast, fun, but still very tactically challenging...and a little different.

Sorry it took me so long to dig out the pictures. Hope these help.

Funny you should mention a set up like the monopoly buildings, I'm working on a new set of card buildings for the 2mm mini's and a set of rules. Unfortunately I'm not even going to dare suggest a completion date for that little project!  ;)

Hey I like my keybord fluff collection  ;)

As to the rules, well not much to give away apart from Hex based, Mechs, City fight  8)

You sold me on hex based (have you seen my battlelord table ;)).  I'd really like something that plays more like a hybrid between a board game and a miniature game.  Something where I cna build terrain and paint miniatures, but where the rules are simple and fast and the whole thing can be played onthe spur of the moment.  I've tried writing my own about 20 times, and always end up getting bogged down and scrapping it.  Usually I'm all for writing m y own stuff...but this time I'd really like to find that someone else writes just the game I'm looking for.

Feel fre to PM me if you need a second set of eyes or opinions.  If I like what you come up with I'll also be more than willing to help playtest (of course, I'll have to buy a bunch of your minis to do it, so win win).

Ain't that the truth! I was looking to write some simple rules for the 2mm mini's when they first went into production, that was 2005  :o

I'll try and remember to report in when I have something worth testing.

Cheers
