For our future pirate games in ca. 1700-1750, I have finally finished the first part of my english troops.
(Front Rank figures from their Marlburian range).

The Governor and his commanding officer.

They are really nice, I like them a lot. I am not even put off by the plastic bases which I usually loath

Gosh. I was so taken with the paint work that I don't even notice the plastic bases! Lovely.

Is it me or does the Officer in blue in first picture look a bit like the Governor in Pirates of the Carribean, the one Jonathon Pryce played? Lovely painting of a lovely range of figures.

Fantastic. I especially like how they don't look like they're from the 1780s, which many "British troops for pirate games" seem to.

Yes, great shade of red - most 17th to mid-19thC British red coats are painted far too "scarlet"

(edit) However, at least from later on in the 18thC, the officers and sergeants should have scarlet coats, as they were provided with better quality clothing.

Those figures look great. Nice detail and assortment. The shading looks quite nice and really makes them "pop". Thanks for sharing.

Not only are they gorgeous, but they actually look like they're from the age of piracy; rather than from the 1780s, which is what you often see. Sweet.
