Reaper 20th Century weapons pack
« on: February 10, 2010, 07:50:45 AM »
What is the last gun on the right?

What pre-WW2 gun can it be used to represent (if it isn't already)?

Here's the pic:

As an afterthought... what other Interwar weaponry is on this sprue? I only have a vague idea... but the pistol, shotguns, and rifle are easy. I'm talking about the bigger weapons on the right!

If you mean the first Spure: Tommy Gun with Frontgrip and a Stick Magazin
The second Spure: A http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP40
Oh sure. Everybody's in favor of saving Hitler's brain, but when you put it in the body of a Great White Shark, ooh, suddenly you've gone too far

I believe the one next to the MP40 is a BAR.

Funny. I have just that set in front of me. Several of the individual pieces are not very convincing (the BAR and MP40, for example) and there is a slide in scale between them. The handguns are useful since they come with sculpted hands and the sawed off shotgun is ace.

I agree, Hammers... putting the MP40 in the hands of the figure I just converted it looks a bit big. It should look okay when painted though. Also, the size of it allows me to actually pin it in place.

The same/similar gun from the eBob German accessories set is significantly smaller, though *sigh* I can never win. I think I'll just use the buggers irrespective of size from now on.

I've also just used the pistol and it looks great.

Go figure.

My conversions I will put up soon.

As an aside, what are the chances of an MP40 falling into a scenario, like... say... VBCW? :D

I'm hoping to double my usage by making them either partisans for WW2 or some faction of the ECW.

P.S. Any idea what the three guns prior to the MP40 may be?

To the left of the MP40 are; BAR, Stg44 and MG42.

The MP40 is a tad late for VBCW, but so what?  ;)

Hehe... I think the MP40 was used from about '39, but that's Wikipedia. And, yes, so what :) Although it is essentially a German gun, right?

Until such time as I grab some source book, I'm feeling my way around a bit. It looks the goods so far though.

The point is, you can either try to go for total historical accuracy, which is a bit odd for a 'fantasy' scenario... or you can go for the 'idea' of something. No matter how far you go down the historical accuracy route, there will always be someone who knows, or thinks they know, better and will pick flies at whatever you do. Most folk will see nothing wrong with an MP40 in the 30's and it looks the part.

Actually the original MP40 was the MP38,just in time for VBCW and will drive the "oh you can't have that" loonies up the wall, which is always good. ;)

Early on Reaper said the Reich of the Dead figs would be 1/48 scale and I suspect that is what they intended these weapons to be.
