advice for a pattern on a dress?

Hey all, just wanted some advice on this... Should I do a pattern on the dress (flowers or something) or just leave it plain red? I was going to do a pattern but a) the dress looks good to me plain and b) I am very lazy lately

If you have the skill then do a pattern, it will really enhance the look.

I would leave it plain if doing it myself, because any attempts at doing a pattern with my clumsy front hooves would result in nought but an unsightly mess, and tears before bedtime.

But if you can do it, then do it!

I like it plain but suppose depending on who you are wanting to use her as, a pattern may indicate higher status..but who cares.

This guy form another forum has used some simple but very effective patterns which might give you an idea...I like the dragon fly best

Maybe just add an ornamental border to the bottom hem? Simple, but colourful floral motives. I´d suggest using a deep golden yellow.

i just did a quick search on "japanese silk patterns" to see what generally popped up: elaborate patterns, simple geometric, and one or two plain colours. but i ound this site quite nice for reference:

i chose an internal page that has a very simple yet elegant golden kimono and  complimentary obi.  i would suggest, if you don't mind my thoughts, similar:  a plain red kimono and them jazz up the white obi with something.

you did such a fine job on the red i'd be afraid to put a nice, though appropriate design on it and risk a mistake.  furthermore, the white obi is less area to sweat over.

I think it would look better with a pattern, but if you have trouble with that how about cheating and using waterslide transfers - I know there are Japanese transfers for 15mm back banners (are they called Mon ?), but think that I saw some 6mm ones (possibly Baccus Miniatures stall) last month, a few small ones might make a convincing pattern, then gloss varnish the dress to look like silk perhaps ?

I like the smooth red but an simple white flower pattern around the edge would make it perfect.

that is a very nice red!  If you really want some patterns, some simple flowers might do the trick, this is what I did.

I also had a plum flower pattern on my chinese figures that might pass off as japanese I think ... (they being big on plums as well)
