Command & Conquer
« on: February 14, 2010, 12:35:42 AM »
There's a painting competition at the local wargaming forum from Denmark and the deadline is tomorrow... I had completely forgotten about this, and as I won last time I had to do something to show the flag.

I sat down at 8 pm. and looked around in my basement. Then my eyes fell upon an old bucket decorated with roseflowered paper where I keep all the Mech Warrior stuff someone threw at me a couple of years ago.

I realised that I had to do a GDI vs. NOD diorama from the old computer game Command & Conquer.

I had a Micro Machines tank laying about too and from the looks of it it seemed to be in the same scale as the bird. Whatever that is.

This is my progess so far this evening... I hope to finish it tomorrow. Other wise it will all have been in vain!  lol

Very nice Thorbjørn, is this over on Powerfist? I've not seen a painting comp over there. Iespecially like the explosion, but think the bird might need a little more work to make it 'ping'.

That would make a lovely 28mm model. The front of gunship is very reminiscent of a Hind.

I take it these are 6mm or 10mm  rather than anyting larger?

The explosion is superb. It's very lifelike and a great little diorama  :-*

Thanks!

I believe the scale to be smaller than 15mm and larger than 6mm. Ahem.  lol

There is indeed a painting competition. It's called "the maleudfordring". The winner each month get's to set the next theme. I won last with my santa in hell and chose the theme "after the 28mm workshop".

Yes the bird is not fantastic. It's a smallish model though, and in keeping with the NOD theme, I can't justify a lot of colours going on. I did paint a NOD logo on the side though.

After all I did it all in 5 hours last nighte. From conception of the idea to posting this.  8)

Interesting.  I wonder if that helped blend the paint for the smoke and fire?

Damn, I was hoping for fewer entries, so that I would feel better about missing out... oh well, If I can get my hands on my USB for my camera, I might just have time to finish the two last corlours my entry is missing... I guess I have until the clock hits 24:00 right?

The only criticism I can think of concerning your diorama, is that the flying stand's foot could have been consealed a bit more... but it is a minor thing, and it is an amazing outcome for five hours work!
