My, this really seems to turn into the Year of Niche Armoured Car. Tobsen, Company B and now Copplestone. Is this a coincidence?

I already have 6 unpainted ACs waiting so I am in no hurry to get any of these new ones, although lovely, but I am very keen for the rest of you to so I can see them painted and used in wonderful battle reports.  :)

Heh:)

Yes, very bad timing on our part. I'm usually pretty good at spotting these things, or getting information about them, so as not to replicate other endeavours, however... We might move on to something else in the interim. Will let you know when I know something.

The Copplestone piece is certainly nice:)

-Doc

it would seem ashame not to release it after Tobi puting so much effort into it, judging by the pricing on your other releases you will be pretty competitive and if you include some variants with wheel options etc it should still be a good seller.

Anybody know how many of those Mgebrov-Renault Armored cars were produced, of either version?

I don't know the precise answer to that but no more than a handful, I suspect maybe 1 or 2 of each.  Mbregov was also responsible for building designs on White and Isotta Fraschini chassis, a lot of production in this time frame were one offs on available truck or tourer car chassis.

The various Austin models were by far the most numerous armoured cars, after that the Garfords, Fiat Izorskhis, Jeffrey Poplavkos. Beyond that you are looking at around 10 each of the Ruso-Balts, Filiatovs etc. There were a few Lanchesters left behind by Locker-Lampson, some of which were converted to mount a 37mm gun.

If you wanted a new type to look at, I'd second the suggestion for a Russo-Balt or a Fiat-Izhorski. Currently nobody makes a MkB tank and there were a couple with the Allies at Archangel that were later transferred to the Whites. Interesting vehicle and pretty easy to model.

Very nice looking models - but strange that armoured cars are suddenly so in vogue, about 5 years after BoB broke as a new period / genre. I guess 'VBCW' may have something to do with it but not convinced that's what's behind the current rash of armoured cars. Maybe it's just the very quaint eccentricity of most of them that appeals.

What I'd really like to know is why Copplestone's miniature output has dropped to almost zero in the past year. Including, as Carlos says, the non-appearance of the promised second half of the Glory of the Sun range, the first dozen or so packs of which were released last March. Since then - a couple of KKBB packs, one or two re-released DA packs, and a couple more GoS packs. And apart from the various resin armoured vehicles, room sets and Japanese kits, that's about it. Hardly any new Copplestone minis.

Basically he seems to have pretty much stopped.
Which is weird, given how prolific he was before.
Bored? Tired? Unwell? Resting? Lost his mojo? Doesn't need the money?
Would be interesting to know, and what his future plans are, if any...
He's still (IMHO) the best there is.

I don't know the answer Captain, but I had heard that Mr. Copplestone has a "day job" now. Maybe work and life just keep getting in his way?

These are great, but a bit rich for the budget.  Does anyone have any sources for 1914-20's  armour, both cars and tanks, that fit the 28mm scale but are less costly?

$25-$35 is the going range of prices for 28mm armored vehicles.

If you're a member of the Old Glory Army however, you get 40% off the price of their vehicles.
