Contemptible Little Armies 3rd edition
« on: February 17, 2010, 07:37:02 PM »

Contemptible Little Armies 3rd edition is a set of skirmish rules for use with 28mm miniatures. The third edition of the rulebook has been reorganized with a Table of Contents and color photos added. Some changes have been made to the rules as well, specifically, the Direct Fire resolution rules have been changed to take into account a defender’s tactical rating and models hit by Direct fire do not roll for casualty status until the phase just prior to Morale. This will provide a slight bit of uncertainty as to the status of a unit until the morale phase.

And, to top it off, a quick reference chart of oft-used tables has been added to the back of the book. This should help speed up play.

“Contemptible Little Armies” takes its title from the Kaiser’s sneer at the British Expeditionary Force of 1914 - which of course soon turned out to be anything but contemptible. As the title suggests, the main focus of the rules is the First World War, but they are also suitable for many of the other conflicts of the same era, for example:

The Mexican Revolution, 1910 - c.1920.
The Italian-Turkish War of 1911 - 1912.
The Warlord Era in China, 1911 - 1928.
The Balkan Wars, 1912 - 1913.
The Russian Civil War, 1917 - c. 1922.
The Greek-Turkish War, 1920 - 1922.

The book is at our printer now and should be shipping by the end of the week. It will go on sale Friday, Feb. 26th. It will retail for $25.00. You will be able to get it from Rattrap Productions, Brigade Games or shortly thereafter at Northstar in the UK.

Cool, I like the cover art BTW.
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Looks like you have made a good job on updating these Rich, really like the cover.

Never really got on with the rules for fighting the Great War, but they are just the ticket for Back of Beyond games.

Assume Nick will stock them in the UK at some point?

For Australia only through mail order from either myself, Brigade, or Northstar. Unfortunately, there is no Australian distributor (though if anyone is interested, feel free to contact me).

I can tell you that it will cost about $13 to ship the book to Australia (despite what my website calculates).

Table of contents and a play sheet!!!  Jesu!  The main reason I burnt my previous copies. Well done.  Did you have to restrain the author???

There was much frothing and spittle when we told him, but he was okay after a few sips of absinthe.  lol

Good for you.  Based on my previous attempts to see reason, I personally would have beaten him to death with rolled up copy of the 'Illustrated Kashgar Sporting Pink' (available in seven volumes, from all good wholesalers). lol

Northstar doesn't seem to have them yet, who else sells this in Europe?

Northstar HAD them. They sold out within a week. We're back at the printers trying to get another batch finished quickly for them.
