Well I am glad you are in grad school instead of killing time back here Joe!

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! I should note that while the fluffy ghosts and the general's stand got some love in the form of high-lighting, the masses of cavalry were a breeze to paint thanks to the simple scheme and GW's Devlan Mud. I don't know where Devlan is but they have great mud there. I love painting 10mm because its so forgiving. The Empire troops I have waiting on the bench will likely be much harder though. Undead is certainly less demanding.

I am not the first to convert aquarium scenery and I would love to see more converted castles and strongholds from LAFers!

Some guys at the local had the cool idea of using Warmaster figures to make HOTT armies. I grabbed up some of the Vampire Counts and an Undead blister or two and got to work. It was a great deal of fun and I was lucky enough to find an aquarium castle I could convert into a crazy stronghold.

Sorry to be dense but what is HOTT?

It's a very simple set of generic rules. You need no more than 24 bases of models.

It can be played at any scale I believe (6-54mm?) and there are no  specific army lists, you choose from a variety of 'classes' such as hero, blade, warband, magician, shooter, behemoth, etc.

The most popular scale is 15mm, and I believe the book suggests 10mm-15mm, so the base sizes remain the same.

It is a nice little set of rules, if you don't take it too seriously, and can be played in 30mins, so losing isn't a big deal.  ;)

No, it's purely mass battle.

It's cheap and cheerful though. I have done armies at less than £10.

This is a Chaos army I did for HotT using Warmaster figures years ago. Eventually I rebased them again into Warmaster system as I wasn't able to find opponents playing HotT in that scale:
