villas arthurian

now it has no real historical reality, but I wanted to make a building inspired by the Roman villas.

now it has no real historical reality...

I disagree - it looks like the reconstructions of the buildings at Wroxter (Uroconium or Viroconium) in central England, dated around 550AD. Stick some shutters on it to keep out the horrible British weather and you're good to go I think. I really like it, it sort of looks half-way between 'Roman' and 'medieval' - which it is. Good work!

glad that it seems realistic, especially when you know that I had no model. I just watched some Roman villas, and some barracks buildings. the rest is my pure imagination. I'll actually add components, but it is not finished yet

To be honest, we don't really know what the buildings at Wroxeter looked like, it's guesswork based on the surviving groundplan, but it certainly doesn't look wrong. Maybe, it looks 'possible'. And I think 'watching some Roman villas' is exactly what the people who built the complex at Wroxeter would have done. There would have plenty of examples of Roman architecture around when they built it, even if there were no stonemasons or tile-makers left.

I'm not sure what the Wroxter buildings were roofed with, but Wroxeter is close to Wales where the best British slate comes from, so slate is certainly possible in that area.

It has a lot in common with the Roman barracks buildings that have been recreated at South Shields (Arbeia).  See here.

Yes, I said, I am inspired by building barracks roman princpalement on the net because I'm pretty poor documentation on England at the time. what took me also getting interested in a period where I know nothing lol, I have done better to make Frank, at least not need documentation, it is within 200 kilometers around my house, 3 or 4 villages recovery

It is actually not unlike some student accommodation (in Wolverhampton) that a girlfriend stayed in around c. 1974.

I am not kidding. It was a converted POW camp from WW2.

Did she tunnel out for dates or did she build a glider?

Nice work on the building duhamel. Looks the business to me.

Unlike Steve McQueen she was able to clear the barbed wire on her motorbike ;)

Well that's a relief. Would have been terrible dating a girl dresed in an old RAF great coat, re-coloured with boot polish and a light covering of soil. Would have made getting into a discotheque difficult even in Wolverhampton I should imagine.  :)

Unless it was the 1980s of course, in which case it was pretty much de riguer.
