I really think the middle one is ingenius!

But I've got 15 in all and I kind of like the suggestion about colour coding.

This should be interesting - and this fall I'll probably attend Horizon - am crawling back out from beneath the rock where I've been hiding the last year....

That sounds like a brilliant idea!!! Hope your is not too heavy to lift.

In the old Frank Miller Daredevil/Elektra stories there were red ninjas. They looked pretty cool.
Oh please, they were dark burgandy! ;)

Thanks guys! Your approval of my painting is highly motivating.

I'll put a word in for you with Odin when I reach Valhal.

Now I haven't really settled it all yet. But I've just bought 15 ninja. So I'm considering this idea:

Before the game starts, you roll to see where you've landed:

1-2: Owlbear Island
3-4: The Island of Ninja
5-6: ?!?

The board will essentially be the same in every situation. By changing one or two things (eg. adding or removing a samuraistyle gate or druid style temple) I can swap which island we're on.

Objective of the game will be of course to get as much loot as possible back to the Skithögen  longship.

I'm open for suggestions as to the last slot.

Also - let me know if you think that I should just stick to the owlbears.

sorry for the late reply... but I think you need to set the record straight, and let our glorius forefathers meet up with some spartans... the fanboys of the 300 spartans needs to know that 3 vikings could have done the same thing, while looting, raping and drinking at the same time!

Lets see,

Vikings,
Ninjas,
Owlbears

Your taking everything that's freaking awesome and putting it in one game. You need zombies, pirates (non-Viking ones), robots and t-rexs to finish the span of cool.

Loving the painting btw.

I think you forgot Wolverine!
Here you can see my stuffs!!!

I disagree. It would have been too boring for them after a day or so and they would have sailed off and plundered the Persian empire meanwhile...

Oh well.... I guess you are right! Well then it would have taken 300 vikings too... but they could have done it 3 men at a time, replacing each other as they got bored plundering sparta  ;)

Thanks for the wild speculation guys,.  lol

I can however confirm that the last installment of my "vikings vs" will be "church folk and sheep".

The idea is the same basic thing:

You roll to see where your raid has arrived:

1-2: Owl Bear Island
3-4: Ninja Land
5-6: Defenceless parish w/ sheep

Each island will have a set of terrain features so I can swap a few things and change the location completely.

The location will also decide the scenario.

The factions will be like this:

Owlbears: Some 5-6 figures. A single druid and otherwise owlbears. Terrain will be some stone henge thingy with a huge nest w/ eggs.

Ninja: Same amount of figures as vikings. 10ish. With a single "master". Terrain will be a single oriental style gate or something with some statues of the laughing buddha I think..

Parish: Some 15ish figures, possibly multisheep bases. A dog, a priest and a monk and the tough Shepherd (nearly viking). Terrain will feature a simple church and some enclosures.

In all three games the "defender" eg. the non-viking player will get a set of mushroom counters to place on the table. They must be a distance of so and so apart and so on... there'll be 3 good ones and 3 bad ones (only the defender will know). If a viking comes within 3'' of either he must eat it immediatly.

We'll - I better get some painting done!

While I still think my idea of vikings wupping spartans was rather tasty, I must say: you sir, are brilliant!!! (although Danes can't be sirs... arh well  ;D)

Another "only text" update.

I've ordered sheep now and I've been thinking about how I want the sheep faction (the parish) to work.

I'm going with 300 pts Songs of Blades and Heroes lists for all the scenarios.

What I'm getting is this:

There's going to be 12 sheep. The regular sheep will be utter crap. Almost defenless. I'm looking at zombies for a good template. I'm actually considering doing some "bloody pulp" markers for them and let the shepherd (or the priest) be a necromancer able to ressurrect them.

There's also going to be a shepherd, who'll be a champion of sorts too. And his trusty dog of course.

A priest and a parish clerk would be the icing then..

So in all:

Sheep
Dog
Shepherd
Priest
Clerk

Scenario will be a defence of the church, where the vikings must steal some gold and perhaps a woman or two.

Zombies for Sheep won't work well, as they have Combat 4. May I suggest something like this:
Sheep, 1 pts. Q4+, C0, Animal

Higher Q than a child, for the shepherd or dog to be able to perform group moves with them. The shepherd could be a leader, while the dog counts as a champion (works as a leader, but shorter range of his area of command).

The best part is, the sheep can actually be used for attacks. Do a group move, and swamp a viking with 4-5 sheep and he might well be a goner. Death by fluff! =D

Muahahaha! Vikings vs. Giant Mushrooms!

I know have the following components in house:

Vikings (20 in all)
Ninja (15 in all)
Sheep (12 in all)
Priest

Soon I'll hopefully get my paws on a long boat... and some owl bears! (they've been ordered.. just haven't arrived).
