Cheetors "official" introduction.
« on: 01 April 2010, 03:09:45 PM »
I signed up to LAF nearly a year ago and it only occured to me yesterday that I should probably introduce myself.

After the inspiration and frendliness that I have received from here in the last twelve months it seems rude not to.  Better late than never.

"cheetor" summed up in list form below.  You dont need to read it, there wont be a test.

1. I have been painting and chopping up figures and terrain since 1988.

2. I did "the GW thing" for a large portion of that period, but I dont now.

3. I paint figures to tabletop standard with the objective being to game with them. I have never painted a display piece.

4. Once in a blue moon I will paint some fantasy stuff, but for me its sci-fi all the way baby.

5. I painted WH40k stuff from '89 until '03 or so.

6. Ive been painting modern zombies since 1998.

7. Ive been painting pulp sci-fi since 2009.

8. I studied model-making in college and worked in the industrial design industry for five years.  I hated it and so changed my job, but I never hated going home and doing more or less the same thing in the living room with my toy soldiers.  Weird huh?

9. I dont get to game as often as I would like. It averages out at about 8-10 weekend long binges a year, which isnt so bad although I would like to play more.

10. I have varied my approach to painting in various ways over the years, always in an attempt to increase output.  As a result my "portfolio" consists of a lot of figures painted to different qualty standards (even using the much maligned "dip" for a while).  How I paint now has more or less settled into the same techniques and standard that I had when I was 18 (16 years ago).

11. Those of you who like to "stalk" where other LAFers make the magic happen (I know I do...) can see where I chop things up, glue them back together again and smother them in paint on the My Workbench thread.

12. I would love to be making a day trip to Salute this year, but my wallet would explode.  Maybe next year.

13. I tend to be long-winded.  But you know that by now.

So there you go.  Im pleased to finally "meet" you all :)

Paul

A belated welcome, Paul.

I don't know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.

Hey Cheetor, how those apes treating you?

Hey bc99

The apes are nearly all cleaned up and undercoated.  I have added a few more apes from other manufacturers and will soon be embarking on the simian part of my pulp sci-fi project.  With a bt of luck I should complete it this summer.

I am still looking forward to seeing your stag mounted barbarian painted up.  It looks like a great figure.
