These are lovely figures.
I like the ragtag feel to the uniforms. I presume this is historically correct? It's a subject that I know very little about. But after seeing these, both the paint job and the figures, I will have to look into it.
Anyone suggest a good book on the subject?

Definitely a sound historical look. The Mutiny armies were very rag-tag, with many variations in official and unofficial uniform items. Even the colour "khaki" had many different shades. You can say with confidence that virtually every regiment had it's own distinctive look. For a very good intro to the subject, both poloitical and military, there is Christopher Hibbert's "The Great Mutiny: India 1857" . Only £3.70 second hand here:

and the Ospreys are worth having for an intro to the campaigns and of course the uniform details.
