I quite fancy the look of these, how do the ship to ship rules work? are there rules for guns etc.

I have .45 and know it is for small scale skirmish how do the pirate crews work?

Are the ship profiles OG (big beasties - I have their 40 gun Man O`war you see) or Flagship games - little tiddlers?

Questions Questions I know :D

I'm sure Pete will pop in here with more details, but Pirate ships are given three stats. Handling, Boarding, and Broadside. The rules cover the last few minutes before the boarding action. You won't have ships cicling each other. You'll get a few broadsides as they attempt to close so crews can board one another. Certain archetypes and skills will help your attempt.

The big OG ship would have the 10 broadside and 3 Handling.

Thanks operator :) that sounds good, a ratio is what I want, As I have 4 little ships and the big boy I only want to represent the attack perhaps with as you say the initial broadside or passing shot etc, otherwise my pirates in cutters and sloops would not stand a chance :D

It was a busy weekend*. Sorry for not ringing in sooner.

As Rich said, each ship has three stats: Broadside, Handling, and Boarding. There are template stats for the major classes of ship, and you can further refine your ship, trading off one stat for another.

In the few tests I've done, smaller ships can take larger ships, though you'd better have a good helmsman (to improve your Handling) and better hope your opponent doesn't get too many hard hits in.

Without going into too many details, the ship manuevering and firing works a bit like the rest of the mechanics of the game: d10 + stat + modifiers compared to your opponent's d10 + stat + modifiers.

*: Not that busy. I spent the weekend cowering in fear of Teenage Rockabilly Grimm.
