This thread started as my own little project. But since so many cool ideas and warband-pics entered, I give it a try and start an open challenge here. So please feel free to post your own warbands.
I ve started this little project a little time ago...
Some of the joys of "Songs..." is that you can mix all creatures, monsters and heroes in a warband as you think it may fit. I wanted a more themed approach to my games.
I searched my leadmonutain and found some nice greeks... and started my first ancient-fantasy warband.
After a little playing around with the idea I came to my project-rules or guidelines (some more may follow)
-only miniatures from the leadmountain may be used, no new buying
-as little "GW-feeling" as possible
-find narrative gangs with a cool story
Edit: new rules, 15.04.:
-mix ranges wherever you can: it's not cool to do a gang out of the box (a helldorado Sarrasins-starter box may include superbe miniatures, but its dull to make a pure Sarrasins-gang out of it)...
-make the gangs too big: include spare models for variety and gimmicks for scenarioplay.
Edit: 25.04.:
-repaints are allowed: I ve a lot of half painted/old painted miniatures laying around, which I can't use in any rulesystem I usualy pay. Want to put them in good use again...
okay, here is my first gang, the greeks:
...sorry for the quality of the pictures...
The mino and the centaurus are from my old RPG-times the hoplites are from a never started greek WAB-army. The hoplites shields are handpainted or old marauder ones I found in the pile...
Next are my conan-like barbarians. Cool old Copplestone miniatures wich I had for years in my lead mountain...
The big gry on is a kind of half-god or werebeast, don't know yet.
The first two gangs are perhaps to big to use completely in a standard SoBH game. But I have some variety and perhaps can use them for other systems...
The next gang is rather small though...
it's the elemental-Gang, consiting of the four elmentals and a summoner/scolar-type...
I had three cool elemnetals but could not find any suitable fire elemental in my leadmountain.
At last I used a WH-flamer deamon...
Another gang came to my mind when I stumled across a big spider from LotR: the cult of the spider.
There are two spies, a few little spiders, a big fighting spider, a champion and "the mother" herself...
The latest gang in my arsenal are saxons for "Songs of Arthur and Merlin"
I had these cool GW-figures in my pile for quite some time, never know how to use them: too heroic for historical, too thin for WH-Fantasy...
I added two fantasy elements to the gang: a dwarf and a giant, just in case...
...next on the list are some fantasy arthurians (high mediaeval) inspired by the Excalibur film...
...greetings from the mountain of lead,
