15mm Wild West
« on: April 15, 2010, 03:35:47 PM »
As hinted earlier in here I have now started painting my first 15mm Wild West miniatures.

I have bought just enough miniatures to have a small skirmish between indians and US cavalry using the Legends of the Old West rules. For now I'll just update with new pictures. When I have enough miniatures finished I'll return with a battle report and a more informative status.

Miniature Figurenes Production.

As they don't have any pictures on their website I bought them on chance, (though I found one picture with some of the cowboys on the net). Because of some problems with the casting, there was a delay in delivery. In the mails back and forth I offered the company to use my coming pictures, (as I make them for my blog in danish anyway). So don't be surprised if they popup on their website in the near future.

yeah, these are really nice!

Are you making any adjustments to the rules for the scale change (ranges, etc.)?

excellent!   The GFI should be a compatable match for Freikorp's extensive Western ranges, IK would think.

And 15mm west ROCKS!  :)

Thx.

@Flockalicious:

All ranges in the rules are measured in inches. I'm just gonna measure in cm. Figures are 28/15 and the ranges will be 2.54/1 - close enough.

Most important I'll have two options for the gaming area. Either 60x120cm as a normal game, or bigger gaming area up till 120x180cm. A bigger board should open for games with more manueverability - better flankingoptions and fallback positions.

Very nice 8)

I bought some Freikorps 15mm 7th Cavalry and Indians, and some very nice Minifigs Indians 20 years ago or more, but got lured back to 25/28mm before I got round to painting them.

Very nicely done!  And how can someone not think of the old west in 15 mm!  (Well, maybe they were raised in a closet. ;D)  But, seriously, if you haven't looked into wild west 15 mm lately you've really got to update yourself.  Tremendous variety, though a little bit of some scale issues with Blue Moon's stuff compared to, say, Peter Pig.  But there isn't much you can't find.  Well, I'm still looking for figures for my Chinese Laundry, some Federales, and Chai Kwang Cain (sp?).

Check here for some links to 15 mm and search for the various wild west ranges at Minifigs, Peter Pig, QRF (Freikorp Yellow Ribbon), Hovels, Blue Moon, Irregular.  If I've left anyone out, somebody please slap me with the information because I should really know.

My massive wild west is next up for getting worked on - right after I finish up my artillery for my 15 mm pirates.

Cheers.
