How about:

Underground
Captors and Captives
Survivors

All can be interpreted in a fairly broad sense...

However, is this not a 'wargaming' forum? You can't expect everyone to paint up a sports team.

Only having joined since the last LPL occurred and therefore being a complete rookie I'm perhaps not qualified to throw in my two pennies worth, but I rather like the idea mooted earlier in the thread of literature - perhaps scenes from famous novels (suitable to wargaming of course, I'm not suggesting everyone goes out and paints models for Pride & Prejudice...).

Mind you, who decides what's famous? Hmm.

It might be a moot point in my regard anyway given the likelihood of me being organised enough to find and paint suitable figures for any theme in time for the new season is rather low, but just on the off chance!

Why not, Blood Bowl and the new Mantic one are sports; if of a fantasy kind. GZG do cheerleaders. It's not supposed to be easy  ::)

I've heard it's more about adventure... Among the least war-like mini forums I know.

You can include gentlemen's sports like pistol shooting, fencing, hunting, riding, archery, motor-racing, rifle shooting, chess and clay shooting.

Yes, nevertheless it's pretty specific, and tricky especially considering you need at least five figures.

Anyway, sports aren't an adventure, they're an exercise in mundane futility. ;)

I rather like 'underground' and 'survivors' as themes. They are broad enough to allow fir much creativity yet still have an underlying context.

How about a "limited palette" round?

Shan't be able compete this year as will be away for the bulk of it

May I suggest that "mounted" be a theme

Mounted need not necessarily be on a horse of course....

Err - note to our less salubrious members"..........

"Mounted of course should not be vulgar of course lol

Would the trophies on the wall of a hunting lodge count as mounted?  :D

"Saddle up!" (or "get on my horse") was already a theme a few years ago. I think it included barbarian war tigers too.
