Thanks for the insights Wirelizard and thanks for the comments Hitman. As for the job, lets said that I’m still hunting… >:(

Recently though, I decide to do something of myself and I started to do volunteer work with adults suffering from intellectual disabilities (I’m not sure of the term in English) and autists. It’s only a few hours a week but it’s tons of fun. It sure help me put things in perspective… ;)

I’m not sure if I’m a faster painter but I do get better… slowly… I can’t really complain as I sell almost all the figures that I paint. I was thinking of putting an ad on TMP as a "painter for hire" but I’m not sure yet. So far I’ve painted figures on different subjects but they were all figures I feel like it would be fun to paint. Becoming a painter for hire seem somewhat restrictive… Anyway, I’ll see…

Cheers!

Well done on the volunteer work! Many people find it beneath them to help others less fortunate....a shame really. Our family volunteers a lot. My oldest son is in Grade 10 and must have 40 hours of volunteer hours in so that he can graduate. He already has 100 hours completed in only 2 years. Many kids at the high school I work don't bother to do any volunteer work and so they do not get their High School Diploma...probably 45% of all potential graduates each year.

Anyways...keep up the inspiring painting.
Regards,
Hitman

Good job on the painting AND the volunteer work.

On the mercenary painting, it certainly is a double-edged sword. If you are selling as quickly as you can paint (or close enough) I'd say keep going on the way you are. Once you start putting out ads you wind up painting figures you have no interest in and bad sculpts and it becomes a lot more like work.  ;)

If you do decide to go that way I'd say the most important thing to remember is how to say no. It is tempting to accept the commission for the 5000 point space marine army, but if you already have too many other things on the go you can easily find yourself under a mountain of stuff it will take months to deliver and a trail of unhappy customers ratting you out all over the internet.

Looks like a very sound advice, thanks Aaron 8)

Here are some close-up of the latest batch of figures…

Captains Courageous

Merchant Sailor Gun Crews

Light Deck Weapons

I’ve tried to do some weathering on these Light Guns… I’m not 100% satisfied with it but I think it look kind of good…

Istanbul Constabulary

For this set I decided to paint the seated figure as some kind of "old NCO" rather than the "chief" of the bunch… That would explain the grey hair and the "years of service stripes" on his sleeves… (note that’s a 100% not historically correct ;) )

Rugged Sons of the Empire

As always comments and suggestion are welcome… even though I don’t always listen to them… lol

And for the price you sell them at... they are a steal!   ;)

Very good clear photos as well. Have you been practicing that as well?
My Favourite is the guy in the mess dress. Monocle is great :-*

Thanks for your comments all.

I did not practice my photography skills, it’s just that, lately, my camera decide to do as I said rather than doing what it wants… lol

I know that I don’t ask much for the figures I paint but I do paint for fun first. I don’t want to end up with a lot of painted figures lying around especially since I’m moving to a better, larger apartment at the end of the month (yay! :D )

Most of the color scheme are copied borrowed from Pulp’s site… and the actual figures are a tad darker than they are on the pictures.

I agree with everyone else. Your painting seems to get better with every set. I just painted up most of these myself. I was going to post pictures after I finished the basing but now I don't need to, thanks!   ;)
