Son of Yog-Sothoth (or Proto-Shoggoth)
« on: May 18, 2010, 09:54:15 PM »
Hey,

Just finished painting the awesome Son of Yog-Sothoth by Blackstone. Fantastic sculpt and a real joy to paint. I bought two of these. One of them will be done in a fleshy colour scheme and one just had to be done in a gruesome gorey Thing-like paintjob. Real easy to do too!

1. Prime grey
2. Basecoat entire model with Tamiya Clear Red
3. Dip the model with Army Painter Strong Tone
4. Apply a second coat with Tamiya Clear Red
5. Paint all the eyes and the teeth
6. Apply a coat of clear gloss varnish
7. Apply the gore threads with UHU glue +Tamiya Clear Red + a drop of purple ink (a nifty trick I learnt from Jarhead - link)

That is one nasty looking piece of work...  :o

The "gooey threads" trick sounds incredibly simple but looks fantastic. Thank you (and Jarhead) for that!

Luikki.

Cheers guys...it was really simple to do and loads of fun. I really recommend doing something like this for a yucky daemon or creature. Quick results and it brings a daemonic smile to your face :D
