28mm Ma.K Style power armor?
« on: May 26, 2010, 11:12:52 PM »
Hello,

Like many, I am a fan of Copplestone's Neo-Soviets. (is he ever going to return to this range? Would love to see some support figures, females, etc.)

As part of planning my forces, I would like to include some power armor, something that looks like the Ma.K. S.A.F.S (http://www.hlj.com/product/WAVMK-12), or maybe the Melusine (http://www.hlj.com/product/WAVYK-03).  Preferably in metal, which means the TacArms from AT-43 are probably out.  The closest things I have found in metal are the 25mm power armor from GZG, but those are almost certainly too small.

I know there were some 1/35 trading figures made for Ma.K., but I think they would be too big for this purpose.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Not sure if these are large enough or fit with what you have in mind?

the Copplestone PA troops are ok, but not quite what I am looking for.

Also, something about them seems... off.  I think the legs are too long.

Could be worth looking at some of the Void stuff, especially the VASA forces, from Scotia Grendel.

How about the Sharkit Alterra suits being discussed on a thread hereabouts?

As for the size of the 1/35 scale M.a.k look here. I used one for my VSF.

Someone made power armor in 28mm that was so close to the original Yokoyama designs they were successfully sued, and had to pull them off the market.
I can't for the life of me remember who that company was, but they went into production and were available !
Another miniature pipe dream I'm sure!

I have some metal ones - they were Eureka and very nice although a tad small for 28mm.

Gamer Mac has illustrated the 1/35th scale MA.K which I think looks OK for 28mm gaming.  I have one that I bought some time ago, but have yet to get around to modelling.

I am also aware that another LAFer has modified them to Red German uniformed or COBRA figures.  I am sure that another LAFer can point us to the correct post.

wow, those metal MAK-esq figures are great, although small as you say.

The 1/35 figures are too large, although they would be awesome as a smaller walker.

The Alterra figures might be the way to go.  Pity that the SAKS figure is not for sale, the other two have pretty weedy legs, and the opening hatch for the head is cool too.

Another thought that I had was kitbashing GW Tau Stealth suits with marine legs, although that would be a little on the large size. (Stealth suit body, marine legs, marine arms?)

If I were a little bit better at sculpting, I could have a go at making a torso, and then cast it myself. Slightly beyond my abilities I think.

Thanks everyone.

Hi, as I saw those Makesque eurekas I ran to get them, but ah, there is nothing on the on-line catalogue... is it a discontinued range or am I useless in catalogue browsing?
Thanks.

Have a look at these. They are a good size and look right as well.
