I have not been able to find a curtiss Sparrowhawk. The closest I have is the plane in the pictures above, is a Curtiss racer.

The trapeze in that picture lifts up into the body of the airship, taking the plane with it. The pilot then can get in and out.

Would seem that your Airship is quiet advanced and therefore deserving of a monoplane rather than a bi plane! I suspecst the "engineering section and fuel will be in the next to last piece?

I am still looking.

I was thinking a suitable plane for a German Zeppelin.
Maybe go with the iconic ME 109.

Where is the best place to look for 1/48 scale plane kits on-line and from the UK? I have never bought plastic kits on-line before.

You need a biplane.

Try wiki for a list of german aircraft, and then search on hannants for a kit.

 ;)

A Heinkel 51 perhaps? There's a nice 1/48 kit available.

This is truly, absolutely, irrefutably, the most magnificent model I've ever seen.

Personally I'd go the extra step and make a Crimson Skies style plane for a 'proper' pulp aircraft  ;)
Possibly based on one of the early 30's racing planes.
So many projects..... so little time.......

An ambitious project well executed!
Excellent!
1.- Hannants used to have more kits than you can imagine. You might even find  meteorological station and carnage some parts ! A good search might bring interesting finds.
2.- Be careful, by interwar period zeppelins used hydrogen that is why they usually caught fires and had severe safety measures. On board no lighters and matches were allowed. there was only one electric lighter on board in the hall for use by the smoking travellers!
