Thanks again guys for all the great comments.
Great inspiration

Haarken
Hours I don’t have a clue about. We started it back in May but for the first few weeks I was still involved in the LPL so my brother was doing all the work. I also had a couple of weeks away working and we have both had another couple of weeks away on holiday. I maybe spend 1 or 2 hours working on it most days, with some extra time added at the weekend. I believe my brother is probably about the same.
As for cost not that much. The white card used was bought from Hobbycraft A2 size about £5. We have maybe used 3 or 4 sheets. A lot of the other card used is just recycled cereal boxes. Used a couple of sheets of plastic card and various tubes. The furniture was only £2 or £3 a set. Glue was just PVA from B&Q and super glue. HE 123 I got cheap off of ebay, £10. Other bits and piece were just from our bits boxes. (By the way my bits box is actually about half my garage as you can see from the photos)
The most expensive single thing was figures, four packs from Pulp Figures with the added cost of customs charges getting them from the post office.
Paint maybe expensive, still to get that.

So overall not to bad. Everyone should build one ;D

Absolutely stunning Colin! I'm thinking about calling in some favours and arranging an escort for you so this beauty makes it to BLAM safe and sound.  :)

Don't!

Of course not, Nick.

That's why you have one of these bad boys waiting for him...

Would you be willing to argue with the driver :D
I don't think he would even notice your fancy car as he drove right over it.

When someone earlier claimed this was the best thing on the internet, you denied it but I'm starting to think you're wrong, it's at the very least the best thing in 2010.

We have also worked out what figures we still need to paint. Busy couple of months ahead.

I think you may be missing a trick here... you should buy just the crew perhaps, and allow us mere spectators to donate single figures fully finished to journey on the Mac-Zeppelin. Then you'd end up with a selection of figures which might look like a passenger list, plus you'd not have to think about it too much.

I'd happily find a great figure and donate it to you... what would be nice would be a jpeg in return, you know like you might get if you went on such a journey in real life and have your photo taken as a souvenir.

PM me your address if you're interested.  8)

Thanks guys for all the inspirational comments, they have really helped this project along and kept me on the straight and narrow. Helped keep the “Ooooh shiny” syndrome at bay. :D
But I am starting to get a bit worried. I think you are all building me up for a big fall.
I will admit that I think it is an original build but what you see in the photos is only half the story. You can’t really see all the rough bits or the strange angles at some of the joints.
There have been a lot of better things in the past on this great forum, built by people with a lot more skill, attention to detail, patience and dedication than me.
For example, to name but a very, very few, of the loads that have stood out for me. Are any of the Admiral Benbow’s builds, any of the things built by Grimm, Papa Midnights builds, Malamute’s buildings, Jimbibbly’s stuff, Overlord’s buildings, Captain Blood boards and very recently Thunderchicken’s cracking buildings. :o :o :o

As the saying goes “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and as I am “beholding” it I can see all of the faults and we still have to try finish it on time and paint the thing, ”OH MY GOD”. :'(

As for the sticky thing, if you want but I thought you would all be sick of the zeppelin by the time it has finished with the hundreds of pictures and posts in this thread. I am a bit worried I am going to get a PM from the Prof telling me to stop clogging up his forum, any day now. :D

As for the offer of figures I have a load of pulp figures painted during the last LPL who want to get played with. I like the idea though but I wouldn’t want to take anybody’s hard earned lead off of them. When it is finished and you still want a photo of one of your figure on holiday, you can send it to me I will take the picture and send you the figure and picture back. Same for anyone else who likes the daft idea.
But on the other hand if you have a suitable 6 mm figure that could be used as a suitable statue in the dinning room. :D

Thanks again guys and I hope you are not too disappointed when it is all finished :D

We are always far more critical of our own stuff and always marvel at the feats of others, thats human nature. Of course you will see the small faults and minor details, as you know they are there and the longer you look at it and work on it the more faults you will see. We won't notice them as our collective jaws hit the floor in amazement. :)

Don't put yourself down, you have achieved more with this than I could ever have. I wouldn't know how to start such a project. I don't think you are setting us up for a fall either and I am sure the others will agree wholeheartedly with me on that. You are a true shining light for us with this showing what can be done when you put your mind to it.

I absolutely can't wait to see it and play the game. Oh and please ask the nice driver not to drive over my pride and joy, she's one of the only pleasures I have left in life ;)

 :)
