Oy! And there's you lecturing me on my thread about putting myself down! I cant really add to what Malamute said other than to say if we take a look at your projects, including this one, you have admirable and inspirational scratchbuilding and conversion skills. The only thing you can do to ruin the zep is to paint it pink..... you're not going to are you?

The pic Hammers posted looks like the aircraft is vomiting a train.

I think, on large part, it is the uniqueness of the idea/build which is so appealing.

I do know that large builds are very tedious.  Really hard to keep the mojo, especially when one hits the inevitable snags.  My Blunderbuss has all kinds of imperfections, yet when all the singing and dancing was over and the ship was complete, they all "disappeared."

I have a cafe here in Spain and I know every nook and cranny of that place.  What I have come to appreciate after have run the place for 17 years is that it is never in a state of perfection.  There are always things that need to be repaired, replaced, etc.  What is more important is the over all effect that the place brings to the eye.

I think when you have finished with your imperfect "Death Star" you will, to be sure, know where each and every little mistake and imperfection is located.  But when you see it complete... they will all disappear in the magnificence of the whole.

Keep stroking mate, you and your brother are doing one hell'va job.

Everyone have said it, and I have to aswell. Bloody, amazing, gorgeous over the top one hundred times and back build, Mac! :)
This has been a really inspiring thread to follow, as it has spurred me to put some extra effort into my board.

Thank you,
S

Everyone has said it already, but this is a GREAT project!  I'm dazzled!

A few ideas for scenarios (I'm sure you've already thought of all the good ones but here are a few ideas anyway):

* Raid the Zeppelin for
    - special documents,
    - special treasure (archeologist adventure)
    - grab a VIP (prisoner or enemy leader),
    - plant charges
    - take over control of airship before being discovered by crew and alarm goes off (sneak to cockpit)

* Exterminate escaped infestation (like the Alien movies) before it exterminates the crew

* Someone escaped and must be recovered before landing or before prisoner finds and escapes with the on-board airplane
   - prisoner(s) are POWs
   - prisoner(s) are cultist(s) being brought back
   - prisoner(s) are monsters

As for the offer of figures I have a load of pulp figures painted during the last LPL who want to get played with. I like the idea though but I wouldn’t want to take anybody’s hard earned lead off of them. When it is finished and you still want a photo of one of your figure on holiday, you can send it to me I will take the picture and send you the figure and picture back. Same for anyone else who likes the daft idea.
But on the other hand if you have a suitable 6 mm figure that could be used as a suitable statue in the dinning room. :D

Fair enough, jolly decent of you too. I shall send an eager passenger and s/he'll bring a statue for the dining room. I'll press on you keeping it though, just for economy.

I didn't read all the putting yourself, and the Mac Zeppelin, down - just won't accept that kind of talk, and self-deprecation can only be taken so far old boy. Don't you know there's a war on?* ;-)

cheers,

Like the man said, we all find fault with our own work. Rest assured the Zeppelin is an amazing build, and will be a barrel of fun to play on!  :)

Thanks for the reply gamer Mac.

So not only is it built to an incredibly high standard, it's only taken an hour or two each day and a reasonable amount of money to build. I was so hoping that it required either more time and effort or mounds of money, now there's no excuse for the rest of us not to build one. Not sure there would be room in my flat though...

Great to see such a wonderful project take shape, and even more amazing that it's not costing you an arm and leg in the process. Keep up the great work, you're both doing a fantastic job, i really can't wait to see the finished pictures.

Been covering the outside of the cargo section

The grey rectangle is the bottom of the things I have used to fill the extra section I had to build to join my bit to my brothers.
I didn’t have the room for a disco and anyway I decided we need a way for passengers to get on the Zeppelin and we also needed some crew quarters.
So

Mock up of two crew quarters and the passenger entrance

There will be three sliding doors. One to each room and one through to the cargo area next to the control for the stairs.

First rate!

Too bad about the disco...  :'( ... but yea, not having a way to get on would have created an interesting problem on the gaming side.   o_o

Are those rods for joining the sections together?

Thanks Ray

Yes the rods are a way we are looking at to join it together. They help to line it all up as well. Should be pretty well hidden as well, when in place as they should just look like pipes running along the length of the ship.
