At the moment the colour of the surface will be the same as whatever table we put it on.
Not got that far yet. Most of the ideas for games I have are when the thing is flying. So I suppose it really should be a picture of the ground underneath but that seems to be a lot of extra work that I am not sure we need?
What do you think?
Any ideas?

That would be kind of cool. You could string out some cotton wool to make clouds too.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Yes the rods are a way we are looking at to join it together. They help to line it all up as well. Should be pretty well hidden as well, when in place as they should just look like pipes running along the length of the ship.

Excellent solution!

Think about having a single rod which runs the entire length of the ship for each side which you place first in the aft section.  Then add the other sections once that is in place, and you ensure they all line up correctly.

I agree with Bezzo, buy a cheap bed sheet in a sky blue colour, ( must tbe cotton, not nylon and probably a king size one ;))

I Reckon that should do the trick :)

These posts about suspending it (or having the option) make me wonder - did you put in a keel (or the airship equivalent) made of something strong enough to support the whole weight of the airship?  Suspension points need to be engineered in a special way, otherwise, the model may tear around the connectors or the engines (if they are heavy) could tear right off their struts.

I'm just wondering.

And I would HATE for that masterpiece to fall from the ceiling!!!

It ain't going to hang from the ceilling so there is no worry about it falling from there :D
It has no extra strength along the spine  because it was designed to sit on a table i.e. for a TABLE TOP game :D
And before anyone suggests it again there will be no helium going into it lol

 :o :o :o :o
My brother had a busy weekend. He managed to finish the Zeppelin
Sorry the pictures aren’t very clear but he used his phone for the pictures and had trouble getting such a big thing into the small lens of his phone.
He also decided to build the top section as well and mount it on a stand.

Only kidding (you may have guessed)

It was a silly idea that I had for the window ledge in the mess.

He has gone a bit zeppelin crazy because he built this as well ;D ;D ;D

I realize this is completely counterintuitive, but you now need a fire place in your zeppelin so that you can mount the tiny zeppelin on the mantle.

Don't think there will be any fires on board. Hopefully :D

Done some more work.
Added some sliding doors in the crew area and some other bits and pieces
Doors open

Doors closed

The crew quarters fit under the overhead walkway.

Bought some bits of the web

MG’s
The only one I could find were aircraft ones. So they needed a bit of work.

I recently purchased an airbrush so I built a small test piece to try it out on

We are going to cover the whole thing with tin foil. We think it gives right sort of texture and covers a load of mistakes.

Nice idea with the foil. The airbrush was a must purchase if only for this one project - will save you hours I should think. what did you go with in the end?

Lovely attention to detail on the mg's and I admire all the little bits like the working doors, so easy to leave out to get on with the build. You certainly have more patience than me and it continues to just get better and better,

Wasn't sure if I wanted to go for a really expensive one after being told most people give it up after a couple of tries. So I went with this one on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIRBRUSH-KIT-AIRBRUSH-COMPRESSOR-AIR-BRUSH-COMPRESSOR-/370268372610?pt=UK_Crafts_DrawingSupplies_EH

Found quite a lot of good reviews about the type of airbrush.
The compressor seems to do the job fine.
I figure that if I really get the hang of it I may buy a better one in the future.
Had really good service with RJD tools had a fault with the original compressor so they sent me a replacement one the very next day. Told me to keep the old one. We have since had a look inside and have found the loose wire that was causing the problem and my brother should be able to fix it no problem.
All seems to be working great just now. The price kept the other half happy as well :D
