Why a tan hue James ???

Finished cladding the cargo bay section in card board

This is not just a pile of junk (though the Mrs might think so) lol . This is the bits of card getting held in place while the glue sets

Glue set

Only this bit on the hanger to do.

Will need to force feed the kids more coco pops as I have run out of card that is the same colour. >:D
Fiddly bit around the engines

Access to the engines.

and a final picture of what the inside looks like now

 :o That looks great  :-*

I was thinking tan to help differentiate between the metal colour and the interior, might make it look a bit like canvas. Just a thought  :)

cheers

James

I think (German) Zeppelin canvas covers were generally painted (or soaked, not 100% sure on that) in a special paint that included aluminium particles in order to reflect as much sunlight as possible and avoid the gas cells expanding due to the heat buildup, and IIRC the US- and British-built rigid airships followed that example. So it would not be canvas-coloured, but a slightly metallic grey.

Fun fact: Gas bags were, for a long time, manufactured from cattle appendices.

Fantastic. it looks frail but with that particular construction I imagine it is quite sturdy (?).

You (might be) right   ;)
In fact, from what I recently read, the newest investigation about the Hindenburg crash revealed that it was an experimental soaking together with static electricity that caused the ignition

I think you should. Film it and put it on YouTube and with a guy screaming "Oh, the humanity!" and you'll get more hits than Justin Bieber.

Awesome!

Just a thought - perhaps a non-pointy landing zone for the Rocket Troops, just so they don't impale themselves?   ;)

Greetings
... what I recently read, the newest investigation about the Hindenburg crash revealed that it was an experimental soaking together with static electricity that caused the ignition
yep.. though in my case it was some TV Show on History Channel ;-) Apparently -from what I recall- it was some kind of experimental paint 2/3 Aluminum and 1/3 something other (or was it the other way around ??) whereas the friction with the aluminum flakes started the ignition and thus it took only 32 seconds to engulf the whole dirigible. Horrible in true life I admit

but what you get here, maddest Scotsman known to man, is something formidable :-* :o ;D
