Helion and Co
« on: May 29, 2010, 05:23:25 PM »
Hi,
well on the way with my VSF project but need some antagonists for my British. Has anyone ordered from Helion recently? Just wondered as the site doesn't seem to have been updated for a while.Really like the Prussian troops and they seem very reasonably priced too.(I am right in thinking 8 figs for £8.50 aren't I?)
Just out of interest, how do they compare with Renegade figures size wise?

thanks for any helpon the matter.

I bought a couple of books from them a month ago, and they arrived fairly swiftly. Can't say I've ever bought any figures from them, though. Perhaps you should email them and ask if they are planning on expanding the range?
I told you so. You damned fools.

They were getting praise for their Prussians recently so someone must have ordered and recieved them.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Ever thought of using Calpe Miniatures?  I don't own any but have seen good reviews and the figures sure do look purdy!!

I don't have any but I saw some at the Caliver Books stand at a show. They're very nice and would be perfect for VSF. Calpe are lovely figures but they are Napoleonic. You could still use them but the Helion ones have the spiked helmets so characteristic (and characterful) of the Victorian era.

The Helion and Co figures are superb, plenty of character and animation. They come in on the large side of 28mm, side by side about the same size as my Renegade ECW chaps, but should never occupy the same table!

I have seen some samples and the Helion are very nice figures with lots of details and variation of poses.

Indeed large size, however I cannot comment about the compatibility with the the renegade ones.

Malamute likes the Helion stuff. I'm sure he'll have a good idea of their size etc.

Indeed I like 'em, but never got around to buying any.

The main reason being my Prussian forces are old Foundry FPW figures which are on the small side. They are definitely not compatible with the Helion figures which are on the large side.

I assume they are more like Copplestone/Ironclad etc in size then.

Which is very interesting.....

Not even close to Copplestone.I don't even see how you can say they are anywhere near Renegade size. The cavalry are the same size as my Foundry India range cav, so small.I bought these after reading this post thinking they would fit in with Redoubt and Great War stuff for VSF.Not likely.
