Victorian (Alexandrine) era Tartars
« on: 06 June 2010, 04:18:54 AM »
What are the Tartars doing during this period?  The Golden horde is three hundred years dead at least, but I know that some of the southern Khanates were around for awhile, and that several Turkic/Tartar tribes fought as mercenaries for the Ottomans in earlier periods.  I also know that, as a whole, they did not care much for the Czar.

What are they up to in the 19th century?  Are they still a military force at all?  Who would they fight?

Thanks

I could be wrong but I think there were some involved in the Taiping rebellion in China

Neat idea!  Though I'm not sure you would really need any specific figures.  These guys

Look like they could be painted up from pretty much any Islamic cavalry.  Here would be my suggestion for 15mm

Add in some additional color (stripes, cuffs, neck ruff, whatever) and generally spruce up the paint job; you'd be set.

In fact, I think I will...
