Captain America and Bucky WW2 style...
« on: 24 June 2007, 04:00:21 PM »

This conversion project was lying on my table for nearly one year.
I always wanted a WW2 version of the good Captain and his faithful companion for weird WW2 games.
And after reading the absolute fantastic Ultimates comics I just knew, I had to convert one.

So I picked 2 minis from the huge Superssystem range and went to work. The minis are Super Charger and Kid Dynamo (SU10).
I then sculpted some WW2 style belts and straps with greenstuff.
Pouches and gear is from Tamiya and Assault Group. The old style shield is (IIRC) a GW High Elf plastic shield. Shield grip is again sculpted in green stuff. Just check the pre-paint pictures to get the idea. After that a nice old fashioned all American paint job! DONE!

More - incl. the Supersystem Stats - on my website...
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

"America, The Beautiful,
God shed his grace on thee!
And crown thy good,
With brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea!"

Very, very nice work. Those pouches are especially well done.

Now all you need to do is make the classic villains!  You know, the ones that were really offensive in the depictions...  :freak:   Actually, there are some really good models for the Japanese forces that aren't overly sculpted.
Look Daddy, I painted one of your robots!!!

Which villain are you talking about?
The Red Skull is already on the table...
And for the Japanese I am thinking about a force based on "Mutant and Masterminds" Golden Age Hinomaru: The Circle of the Sun heroes...

Agis, I was mainly referring to the racial stereotypes.  Japanese with big cheeks, glasses, squinty eyes, and enormous buck teeth.

Browse through these and you'll get the idea...

Oh my, those look great.
Me love
About the only criticism I would give you on these would be the side/underside of the shield (GW High elf, eh? Wonderfull  ) You see the blue going around the rim while the white is.. well.. perhaps not so good than your usual stuff IMO.

But anyway looks more than great. Great Stuff

The backside of the shield is deliberately painted in a dull US Olive drab (to get the military feel).
White - are you referring to the white parts on the uniform?

Superb work Agis   It really captures the feel of the early period superhero. Is that Milliput on the bases?

Thanks!

Yes, milliput.
Supersystem Figs come with cast-on bases, which I do not like so much...

So I usually cut them to fit a normal slottabase, fill any gaps with milliput and maybe even put some milliput stones or rubble on it...then maybe some sand on it - done.
Works like a charm for me.
