Work for Historicon
« on: June 24, 2007, 04:42:32 PM »
As of late, I have been working on my two boards for Historicon and I thought I would share some in-progress shots.  The pictures aren't the best as my work area has no above lighting.

Mystery of the Last Tsar board

This board is green now, but will be covered in thicker grasses with a heavy dusting of snow to represent a mountainous region during the Russian summer.  They're probably wouldn't be snow, but I'm taking Hollywood liberties.    The rocks and road have been drybrushed white to help get a more even snow effect.

A Question of Loyalties board

Set in souther England during the English Civil War, this board is the remake of my first LaVale board.  The first board (the first picture) was nice, but I really thought I could do it better.  This board will be heavily flocked and still needs to be painted. The Pardulon buildings really set the tone.

Cute Kittie!!!

Oh, and the boards look okay too....    :D

Those Pardulon buildings make that board!  How did you make the muddy effect for the road?

I mark out the edges of the road with tape and then I layer on a putty. I smooth everything out and make sure it's not too thick.  They I lift up the tape and clear away the excess.  The ruts were done with a matchbox car I had laying around.  I lightly pressed the wheels into the putty.  The trick is to not go overboard. Thanks.
