Tomahawks to Historicon!
« on: 19 July 2016, 08:50:55 PM »

An Ohio family runs into Indian raiders as they try to make it to the local blockhouse

We took my "Raid on the Ohio Frontier" scenario East to Historicon 2016, last weekend. We ran the event four times, and were full each slot with our max six players. We could have filled many more slots...there was lots of interest! I'll remember that for next time and either take a bigger game or run it more times... lol

Check out the photos on my Lead Legionaries blog:

LOTS more photos there...

This looks great!
I'm starting up with SODAT, any scenarios stored away online?
Cheers,
Jim.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the purchase! This might give you some ideas -- it is the Battle Reports section of the First Command website:
http://www.firstcommandwargames.com/published-rules/song-of-drums-and-tomahawks/

I think there have to be close to 50 battle reports on there, now. Might get the creative juices flowing...

I know it doesn't help right now, but the Beaver Wars in Ohio campaign supplement will contain 18 scenarios when it is released. I'm finishing up the playtest in the next couple months, and hope to have it released this fall.

Feel free to ask questions...!

An excellent resource, thanks Mike.

I picked up your rules a month or so ago, thinking they would be a stepping stone towards a larger Muskets and Tomahawks force. That may still be the case, but it looks like I will have plenty of game time with SODAT! Another guy at my local club has also bought the rules, so hopefully it will take off to an extent and encourage others to get involved. The 3 dice mechanic seems to make it.

Cheers,
Jim.

I agree, Jim. As I tell my players at conventions when I'm explaining the rules, it is the decision-making that is what makes the game for me. You are constantly being called upon to make decisions, to prioritize, to weigh risks with rewards. How many times have we played a game where all we have to do is march forward with our troops and roll dice? You and your opponent drive the game in Song of Drums and Tomahawks.

Thanks for the kind words...!
