Eight stiches don't count for anything in this discussion, unless they are on your John Thomas.  :)

The gramophone is from a range of 1/35th scale metal WWI models (it is for an officer's dugout scene, I guess). I'm afraid I can't remember the name of who makes it, but it was rather expensive for what you get. I took a chance that a 1/35th gramophone wouldn't look too out of place with 28mm baboons. I think I got away with it.

...that is some fantastic work. You have to be pleased. God knows I would be.
I'm never completely happy with what I do, there is always something I don't like about my stuff and I always think "I can do better than this." I think that is how you do get better, by having the perverse attitude of never being satisfied. I used to get intimidated and disheartened by the big guns on here, and still do a bit, but now I use it to spur myself on to better things.

You did get away with it so if you eventually remember the company, post it. Crankhandle phonographs come in many sizes so this could just be one of the larger swankier models which only baronesses and such can afford.

I scratchbuilt one some time back:

That's some pretty nifty scratch-building there, H. You are a talented fellow. I couldn't make something like that if I tried for a solid month.

The giraffes are amazing  :-*

Thanks, I was inspired by Marc's (Tellus), which I had the opportunity to see at first hand a bit ago. But being a clumsy idiot it slipped out of my hand. Luckily with the sharp reflexes of a young Jonty Rhodes I managed to catch it with my other hand. Phew! Given all that, I actually didn't use the same method as Tellus in the end when painting it, so I risked that young giraffe's life for nothing.

Um, I'm rambling now, aren't I?

Is this the famous and heated white-lines-on-brown v.s. brown-spots-on-white you are referring to? :)

When it comes to Africa, Plynkes is the Argentina to my England  :(

I'm never completely happy with what I do, there is always something I don't like about my stuff and I always think "I can do better than this." I think that is how you do get better, by having the perverse attitude of never being satisfied. I used to get intimidated and disheartened by the big guns on here, and still do a bit, but now I use it to spur myself on to better things.
.

I'm delighted that you are never fully satisfied with your efforts, as that ensures each subsequent project will be even better than the last. As for the "Big Guns", you appear to be as intimdated as New Zealand were by the Italians   lol lol

A true artist  :)
