Model shop find
« on: June 29, 2010, 02:19:48 PM »
Near my In-Laws house there is a small model railroad/model shop tucked away at the back of town and I love having a look in there, you never know what you'll find. I was in there recently and spotted this.

Thought it might serve as inspiration to people. Not a vehicle I'd come across before, although I've now read up on it a little. Had a pretty good top speed of 110mph!
So many projects..... so little time.......

I really like those Glencoe reissues for their "retro flair", although I never managed to complete that Mars Liner kit I got back in the late 90s.

That thing, to get back to topic, is so atomic age. I wonder, though, how useful it would have been in real life, considering maintenance demands and stuff...

... not that it would stop me from using it for Fallout or something. It would fit right in.

Maintenance would probably have been an issue. I can only find records of two being used as prototypes although it seems to have been accepted by the US army. No sign of production after it's 'acceptance' though. 1950's designs are always worth looking at :)

Why didn't the passengers get backrests/windshields/seatbelts?  :o If the guy shooting leans too far back (or forward, or turbulence etc) it's instant mincy death! Probably have the life expectancy rate of speeder bike pilots  :o

That is a great model with a very Pulpy look.  I've modified it for 28mm for my WWWII games
