Looking really nice.  This particular gunship is currently on clearance at Target for $17.42.  I had to resist the urge to pick up two!

That's pretty good!  I wonder where the closest Target is.   lol

Well after looking at it sitting on my table for a couple of weeks I finally got started painting the accent markings on this ship.  I don't know why it took me so long to get this far but I seem to be making progress.  Hopefully it won't take me another couple of weeks to finish

Looks great - inspired by your project of converting toy ships for use in Sci-fi games, I've been on the lookout for suitable toys, but ironically, since the arrival of my first baby four months ago, I haven't had the time! He's a boy, which is great, as I plan on using him as an excuse for buying all sorts of toys!
Looking forward to more on this project, and I love the paint scheme - I might well borrow it when I get around to converting and painting some ships.

I got the rest of the yellow accents painted on.  It took a while partly because I was trying to figure out the pattern I wanted as I was painting it.  Now I need to touch it up and highlight it.

I can see a lot of those G.I. Joe vehicles as possible conversions!

Nice to see you back, Ironworker!  :)

I was inspired by your conversion.  I was eyeballing this one in target last week.  I think it could make a very convincing and easy conversion.

I've been looking at that one too.  It's got some kind of funky little airplane stuck to the bottom .  Not really sure if I dig it or not but I think I might give it a shot too.

Here is a shot of the "Sky Sweeper" I just finished up a couple days ago.  It's also a G.I. Joe toy.

Sky Sweeper looks great, Ironworker. Very nice setup for the photo too - that space colony look is exactly what I'm going for too, so I'll be taking notes from this thread.
That red ship is one I've also had my eye on - I think it would look great reconfigured for 28mm use!

I painted the nose art on the Black Dog last night.  I chose a cartoon Doberman because the long narrow front of the ship reminded me of a Doberman muzzle.

To be honest it reminds me more of a trout, but some how that just doesn't sound as aggressive! Nice and freehand all the same.

Oh no! Get under cover! Here comes the Black Trout  :o

No, you're right, Dobermann is more appropriate  lol

Black Dog's also my favourite Led Zep track, so I love the name.  ;)

The insignia's well placed to further disguise the fact that the glass area was originally much larger. Interesting to see you used those cheapo bottles of acrylics to paint it, rather than dedicated gaming paints. I've only used mine for terrain, but they seem to work well on the Black Dog.
