Cor! Those are great, Shaun.
Straight off the chocolate box  ;)
Wildly impractical (think how dirty they'd get) but supremely dashing. Love 'em.

think Napoleon made a remark to that affect when his army was thinking of switching back to the Bourbon white. But if I remiber correctly he was refuring to how much blood was on the uniforms after the battle. :o

Aside from that grim thought, the mins look great.  :D
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

it's a little know fact that there's no mud or dirt in Ruratania ;)
The lower orders all get up at 5am to sweep it up.

over a black undercoat- VMC135, -VMC126, -VMC014,  -White.
for a duller gold use VMC148 as a base then as above.
The trick to getting it to look more like braid is to use less of the lighter colours, I used the lighter colours more heavily as the uniform was white and it just looked better.

Thank's Zed :)
I also added your blog to my bookmarks, interested with the experiment of Griffin Alkyd. The photo didn't say that much.

well I used to be an oil painter years and years ago, but switched to acrylics.
I saw the advert for Griffin and have been experimenting. Yes they do dry in 24 hours, thin them with white spirit and they dry satin/matt rather than gloss, I'll be using them a lot for horses and for figures where there's a big area of colour available. :)
