Starcraft
« on: 26 July 2010, 05:09:52 PM »

Not sure why Blizzard just doesn't do a feature length film using these.  The games are excellent, but their cutscenes are simply amazing.

Anyhow, great inspiration/reference.

I doubt I'll get the game, as when I made the move to the 'xbox 360' I stopped going through the 'new computer every three years' phase....Mine won't handle it, I'm assuming.

Hi,

I watched this trailer so many times I can't count it anymore ;)

If you like the cinematics and don't want to buy the game, search youtube for "Starcraft 2 cinematics". There you will find all the cinematics from the game and I tell you there are some great scenes in this game. Space Marine vs. Hydralisk action  :D

That kind of stuff always gets an *Awesome!* out of me...  8)

Looking at that, I was wondering; has anyone ever sculpted Terran Marines along this style in 28mm?

Those would be relevant to my interests... :D
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

The cutscenes in Starcraft have always been ace, I still some times you tube the originals, while the graphics look a bit cack against the current stuff the scene themselves are still great. "I've got your zerg riiiight here" gets me everytime.  :D

Hi,

try this:

Thanks for that link.  :) However, instead of the (non GW) topheavy shoulderpadded gunmonsters I am after, I was immediately reminded of the Venus of Willendorf:

It's those thighs man! Dang... lol

Ah, yes. Starcraft always had amazing cinematics. If you have Rad/Bink video tools and an .MPQ reader on your computer you can actually extract and watch the cinematics in their original quality anytime you want without loading up the game or watching the compressed material on YouTube. Also, I don't know how easy they are to find anymore, maybe eBay, but Blizzard had actually sold a CD and/or DvD that had all the cinematics from the Warcraft games and Starcraft too. Even had some bonus material and footage from that Starcraft: Ghost game that still hasn't happened.

The Assault on the Amerigo is one of my favorites too. The Brood War intro was awesome too. Friendly fire on the firebat's tanks and all.
Everything is better with lizardmen.

It was gret mission when you need to destrooy infected buildings. At day there are no enemies in this mission, but at day, hundreds of infected came from the ground to eat you!
