Venture Star Prospecting company. More fun with toys. :)
« on: 31 July 2010, 04:14:40 AM »

One of the first projects for my spaceport/colony is a prospecting company.  I was going to do a full blown mining opperation but I decided that would be too costly.  In addition to these vehicles I'll be building a small base.  The figures show are just for scale but the company will have 10-12 employees.

No specific rules set or system.  I'm just building a generic space colony for sci-fi games.  Although I am planning on using it for AE Bounty games.

Very nice... I'd be interested in hearing how AE bounty works with a salvage crew type operation... I'm building up a salvage crew for Star Mogul at the moment, and so far I like it, although I haven't played a game yet the rules seem straight forward with enough depth to satisfy my "necromunda" side...

I assembled "Team 1" today from some old GW plastics I had laying around.  These are the guys who will crew the equipment show above.  I know they aren't perfect but I don't have a lot of money to buy better minis at the moment so I'm trying to make due with what I have.

Well I started painting them.  Unfortunately the base cote got kinda rough but these guys are going to be NPC extra types so they arn't getting my best efforts anyway.  Hopefully I'll have them done tonight.  8)

I'm impressed, you always seem to be able to find great toys and an eye to see how to turn them into fantastic gaming thingies. You're spaceport build sounds very interesting from your blog, looking forwards to seeing more of it.

Heck yeah, this is a cool project! Your blog has some great stuff going on.
I am another one eager to learn more about AE Bounty, so I hope you get to have some fun with these in the near future.

Thanks guys.  I'm trying to get the crew wrapped up but I got a little side tracked yesterday working on the crew's dump truck "Big Blue"

I still have to do the weathering but that shouldn't take me long.  The truck seems a tad under scale but after all this is a game prop and not a scale model.  I'm happy with it so far.

… and then Big Yellow became Big Blue ;)

You’re right, as a game prop it do the job perfectly well. I don’t know why I always seem to fail to see the potential of this kind of toys myself… maybe I lack the imagination ;D

Anyway, that’s nice work 8)
