Thanks for the heads up. That PT-76 looks rather nice. Given that line is ex London War Room I'm pleasntly surprised at the apparent quality of the sculpts.

You know if you bunged a 1/72 scale T-54 turret on the hull, You' might just have a decent basis for a Chinese Type 63. Would still require a bit of work but....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Type_63_tank_-_above.jpg

The modernised version might be a somewhat more ambitious conversion.

This has got me thinking. China made a Type 62 light tank which was basically a scaled down T-59. Maybe a suitably modified 1/72 plastic kit of a T-54 or a T-55 would work as one?. as it happens I have a spare T-54 turret in a spares box somewhere, I must investigate this.  :)

Interesting idea :D
   Type 62 real    1/56
Length   5,6m m       100 mm
Width   2,9 m      52mm
Height   2.30m      41mm
   T55 real      1/72
Length   6.45 m      90mm
Width   3.37 m      47mm
Height   2.40 m      33mm

some modifications would be needed, but it looks like it could be done.
a 1/60 would be best
L 107mm W 56mm H 40mm

Now edited to show the type 62 stats instead of type 63.. o_o

The Musorians are old school true 25's, or 22mm eye height, sculpted by Mike Broadbent at a guess. They stand noticeably smaller than say the modern French by Kosta but the height variation may play into your hands depending on personal tastes and ethnic representation. I can take comparison photos, but not until mid next week.

As said they are smaller but you could also use their old brits line and Aussies for Vietnam etc which would fit with them and the PLA

well a small update with pictures to follow later. I received my PT-76 from RLBPS in the mail yesterday and apart from some really heavy flash in the treads it is a nice table top representation of the tank, with lots of potential and the service east coast west coast 3 days was outstanding. The kit consists of 5 components 2 treads 1 gun barrel (metal) turret and hull (resin) few air bubbles and is cast well. Well now that the armor is out of the way I've started on a modular board for all scales it is about 4'x4' and is representative of a wadi(for use in all middleast scenarios) or a dry creek bed/stream for more temperate zones. Once the glue dries I will gett some pictures of it all together. I may even do another set of boards to include a small Afghan ville, not huge just a couple of damaged buildings and tumble down walls? :D I will post pictures as I said later today or tommorrw if I can finish the clean up on the PT-76 thanks again for the suggestion guys.

Cheers, look forward to that. Three days post is good for crossing the country? Most of my orders from Copplestone have crossed the globe inside of four working days, some in three. Nineteen days later, I'm still waiting for my order from Empress to show up.

Well here are the photos of the terrain ala the wadi these boards were done for a game of AA this sunday between myself and my son. He will be the Musorians and their PLA advisors and I will be the insurgents. Carlos 3 days is'nt bad given the U.S. post I'll take it ;) plus I live a little off the beaten path. The first photo is of the entire board
The second is of the grove of trees I will be fighting from.
I am usually just a mat terrain guy , but felt I would give it a go witth these boards will keep adding to them as time and scenarios dictate.

Well the game's been cancelled so it should give me some more time to finish the pre build of the PT-76(took longer then I thought to clean the tracks) so I will get some pictures of it before I paint it up which I have decided to do in an overall russian green to fit in with as many nations as I can. Thanks I don't know why I have'nt done boards before they were kind of fun for the whole family had my kids slinging paper mache and glue for 2 days lol what a mess, I have decided to do 4 more boards over time. Also hope to have some more recruits done by tommorow.

Is that a Hillman Hunter in the top photo? Suppose they are in for a rude surprise, holiday wise,  when the PT-76 shows up. I'd be tempted to model a picnic blanket and use it and the car as a centrepiece/ objective. :D

I love that idea and will diffently be doing something along those lines ;) for the game lends itself to some fine narrative I don't know if it is the russian knock off of a hunter hillman but when I bought it it was billed as a Lebda? if I remember right.
Carlos I also got a chance to see the new rhodesians from eureka they are very nice indeed and can't wait for them to go on sale to us the general public.

Yes I weakened too. I've been asked to paint some up as Armed San Francisco Mens Pride Group, they are just crying out for pink hot pants and rhinestone t-shirts. Roll on the next LAFF comp.

i do that aswell with some vehicles, a plain green t-34 works for 50 years of conflicts, saves a lot of space :D
