@chromedog - I'll check them out. Aren't they the same as the Copplestone Troopers?

@dwartist - Thanks. I'll try to do that this Wednesday.

em-4 are the old copplestone ones

I do use them together with the new ones and old cadians, but they do not really go together size-wise

They don't? I guess the EM4/Copplestone guys are smaller?

Personally, I own all three and I think they go well together. One thing I will say though, is that it depends on what your definition of 'old GW figure' is, because my Valhallans are about a head taller than my EM-4 while my other impy-gees seem to sit well next to them.

Copplestone's newer ones are only taller because they sport integrated bases while the older ones do not. I always hide integral bases to make it look like the figures are standing on subtle slopes and uneven terrain to that their height difference is less noticeable alongside other figures.
Everything is better with lizardmen.

yep  em4 = old copplestone and new copplestone are quite similar, although definitely more realistically proportioned than the old cadians, which are quite bulky.

However, the general appearance is quite similar, so I use them in the same army, but not in the same unit.

I like the old cadians myself, but could not come up with anything that really resembles them.
The starship trooper colonial marines are also a close match, and I tried a bit conversion on the plastic cadians, notably the helmet, which then got quite close in the general style.

only chance is to see the body armour as "old style" and accept the rest as "new style".

what You could also do is head swap the whole range with the old catachans - the general appearance is thinned down, but You instantly quadruple Your range

true catachans
true cadians
cadians with cat. heads
catachans with cad. heads

boots, pants, gear, weapons are the same
only difference is body armour/jacket and helmet, but mixed

what You get is a "vietnam style" IG veteran army

On top of using the older Cadian and Catachan models, you could insert some Talarn Desert raiders, as they wear the same armor as the Cadians, just with desert gear. Also the Tanith models are rather tasty next to some Catachans, and last but not least, the Last Chancers set.

Though expect to pay a lot of money, lol.

I've seen a lot of collections cheaply on "bring and buy's"

I'd agree with most of the last chancers, but not with Tallarn and Tanith
completely different uniform

Thanks for all the replies, this is why LAF is really great. I'm going to buy some of the Copplestone figs and try that mix and match with different heads. My idea is having some "low-tech" soldiers for a Planetary Defence Force.
