Heavy Gear - Blitz
« on: August 12, 2010, 09:10:46 PM »
I spent about 2 hours at the Dream Pod 9 booth during my Gen Con stay.  I got to watch a few demos of the new Blitz rules.  I have seen Dream Pod 9 for many years, but never seen the figures in person.  I purchased a bunch of them while there and think they are rather cool.  I am still reading over the rules, but thus far the rules look very promising.

You know I always find pictures on the DP9 site to be, not bad but it doesn't do them justice. When I see unpainted pictures or well painted pictures, often on here, they look awesome. I think I should order them some time soon. Anybody know what stockist is best to get them to the Netherlands?

You can order direct from the company.  You could also contact John Nguyen (john.nguyen @ dp9.com).  He is their marketing director.  I am sure he could help you out.

The ruleset is very complex, but at the sometime it's very intuitive.

All the simple math (adding and subtracting multipliers are a huge part of the game) wears your brain out.

I can post my PAK force on here if people are interested.

Very intreasted. I like mecha and dont seem to see many that remind me of Front Mission (A brilliant series by Square that was really under supported outside of Japan)

Actually, the original game was updated and ported to the nintendo DS it actually has an extra HARDER campaign as well, playing as the other side.

But yea that's what it reminds me of as well, now that you mention it. Damn that makes it even better.

Heavy Gear has IMO some of the best mechs around. The background is also fantastic.
Highly recommended!

If I could steal a word from the Brits, Agis your work is Brilliant.  Every time I see something you have painted up, it looks awesome.  Its like you know exactly how to use colors that really work.  You really need to come out with a book or CD on how you paint things.  I am sure they would be fantastic sellers.  It might be a pain to produce, but I have a feeling you could make some money off of it.

BIG thanks, means a lot to me.  :)

The book idea might be something worth considering...
Or maybe a how section in the next World at War book...

I think Agis needs to put out a book on a simpler way to play Heavy Gear using the WaW system so I can use the 10+ RAFM original scale gears I have and the 100 + current scale gears I have.

I know they tried to simplify it in Blitz, but really , it could be so much more fun and fluid without all the modifer nonsense.

BTW Agis, we are starting to play WaW and it will be our WWII skirmish game of choice. An I love the Gear Kreig suplement and have enjoyed your painting for years.

LOL!  lol
I have already started with it...  But somehow there is always something else to do.
Anyway, being the BIG BIG HG fan that I am, I am am really tempted to do it sooner or later.
And I have to agree, while I LOV the background, the rules layout and the minis, I am somehow unable to get into the game... ;)
