Space 1889 Audio Dramas???
« on: 14 August 2010, 08:26:11 AM »
Does anyone know how to get the Space 1889 Audio Dramas produced by Noise Monster? Their website has gone wonky and I am wondering if they are still available.

I had a subscription as I found them very entertaining. I got the first four CDs, but none after that and they appear to be out of production. It seems Noise Monster have ceased trading.

You could try e-mailing them:

enquiries@noisemonster.com

...but I wouldn't hold out much hope. Sadly no copies of the CDs are available on e-bay at present either.

Sorry  :(

Ooh! Hang on a bit.

There appears to be a download site which has them available.

Sorry, had to withdraw the link as it's against forum rules due to potentially being dodgy. I've already apologized to Chris!

If you want it PM me and I'll send it to you direct.

Haven't tried it and don't know if it's legal, but it may be your only chance to hear them.

I am aware that some of the Noise Monster Audio Dramas were at some stage available over the Net - the question is was it totally legal?

I've been hunting them for a while myself, the only place I've found them in stock is here but they are missing the first one

I tried emailing them regarding delivery to the UK but got no answer   :'(

I've tried finding a way to order them but no luck so far. And all the torrents seem to be dead ends. I guess I'll keep checking ebay and asking around.

Has anyone actually heard these? I'm wondering if the quality is close to The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society's Dark Adventure Radio Theater.

I've heard them - They're very good quality.  Fully dramatised (as opposed to being read by a single narrator), well cast, with great spot SFX and ambience.  The story (if memory serves) is very well written and paced, and touches on a lot of the tech, classes and characters you'd expect to find in an 1889 story, from Martian Princes, to English gentlemen and ladies, and cool baddies. Great inspiration.

I had them a few years ago, but lost them in a move (or more likely; I may have lent them out and forgotten about them, like I do with so many books and stuff, chunter, mumble...).  :?

Yes, I have them. Supercollider has it spot-on. They are professionally done and on a par with, for example, the BBC's Dr Who audio stuff. Many of the actors are very well known in the UK, having done all sorts of tv and film stuff. You'd probably recognize pics of many of them.

Well worth getting if you can  :D

I listen to them or the BBC's LoTR on my iPod on long flights.

Easy to nod off to.  :D
