Spiderman Noir: thoughts on a figure?
« on: August 20, 2010, 07:03:39 PM »
I just got around to reading it and since I love pulpy and Weird menace stuff, and since he was battling American Nazis as well as hoodlums, it seemed like there was a lot of potential. Any thoughts on a figure?

I looked at Pulp and Superfigs but nothing spoke to me per se. Haven't looked at Artizan yet, but if someone has an idea (even if it means a little kitbashing)...

Thanks in advance!

This might work:

Reshape the gasmask, add a hat, maybe swap his left hand for one doing the web-shooty thing...?  ???

Twilight is female character from Pulp City.  I believe she comes with two different heads.  The head below would work well if you were trying to do a conversion.

She does.  That's why I suggested only using the masked head on a different model.  I'm pretty sure she either comes with two heads or used to come with two heads.  Only the full masked version was showing up on their site for me.

Is it me? Or is that just an attempt to cash in on the popularity of Lobster Johnson?

I like that Black Cat figure, there's two of them but I wish they would make more.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Oh, probably. But I can live with that. And isn't the Lobster a sendup of typical comic-book and pulp superheroes anyway?

If anything, the costume under the trenchcoat is most reminiscent of Dominic Fortune, Howard Chaykin's 1930s mercenary, created for Marvel in the 1970s and recently revived - and itself, of course, drawing on the pulps - while the trenchcoat, hat and gas-mask look is probably taken from the original Sandman (c 1939), himself revived for Vertigo by Matt Wagner in the 1990s.
Back from the dead, almost.

How about the Heroclix Lobster Johnson figure?
He that trades Liberty for Security will soon find that he has neither.

Hadn't thought of that, but using the Lobster like that seems sacrilegious somehow.

Perhaps this for the body with a headswap (or some putty work):

Or perhaps the chopping up of an Imperial Assassin (not the old 2nd edition ones, no worries)?

EDIT: and I guess I could chop up a Gorman Di Wulfe figure.

Exceptionally late to the thread...which considering my avatar is a bit rubbish.

Personally for noir spidey I've been considering going for the Reaper invisible man mini:

Get some gloved hands on him and he's just about perfect, the trousers could be modified and more obvious boots put on also perhaps a little work would be needed on the head as you can't quite make out what it looks like. I'd guess it's goggles and bandages/wrapping so you could smooth that into a more mask like effect.

Just be wary using this guy for conversion, he has a very tiny head  lol!
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.
