Looking for "savages" in wolf skins?
« on: 24 August 2010, 11:02:02 PM »
I'm looking to pick up a crew of "savage" looking figures wearing wolf skins (heads and all) for my ancients Vikings game.  I'd prefer if they are wearing loin clothes or rags or something.  Native American minis might work, or something fantasy?

Any help would be appreciated (links better still).

I'm looking for 28mm and hope to pay with paypal.

Thanks

Try Copplestone Castings C26, C29 and C47 (and maybe C25 for women?) at this link:

13th warrior-ish savages? I really do like Copplestones... someone hear had a picture of some figures they painted up for 13th warrior-type battles. Just can't remember where the post was located!

I'm quite fond of the old Vendel Hillmen (now owned and sold from the US)

Depending on how 'fantasy' you want to go, it may be worth looking at the Privateer Press Circle fanction for Hordes.

I really like these from Foundry.  The germans, I am planning on using as neanderthals in my caveman games, and they will also double as my picts for my Dark ages games.  More Robert E. Howard then historical though.  If you want a look at them The new Wargames illustrated has some with red warpaint they look awesome even though it is a small pics.

Also there are these:

13th warrior-ish savages?

Yes, exactly.  They are for my Viking campaign, an episode that is sort of a tribute to the movie (but different).

Yes, I'm looking for models like those (with the whole skin, head and all)...but more "savage" (caveman or indian or ancient man), and less viking.

I have plenty of regular savages for my campaign (slightly mocified Zulu warriors), so I just need ones with the full wolf skins.

Thanks for the help so far...hope someone knows of exactly what I need?

I have about 15 28mm painted (very good) Viking Beserkers wearing wolf heads and wolf skins.  They are carrying double edged axes, hammers, and large swords.  They are all wearing pants, but they do not have shields so this gives them a very generic savage look.  I am not sure of manufacturer, but I believe these would work great for you.  I will see if my wife can help me take a picture and send to you if you are interested.  Please let me know?  Thank you.

I appreciate the offer, but I don't generally buy painted minis :).  These ones are going to be painted with very dark skin.

But if you know the line, I'd love to take a look and see if they coudl work for me?

13th Warrior was soooo awesome. It's an instant classic now. That big fella that looked like Thor who played the king kicked major butt too.

Good luck with your project, it sounds pretty cool. What rules are you using for it?

I've also contemplated the Viking adventure game, a la 13th Warrior. I think Svenn or someone else had a game planned along those lines. I look forward to seeing more updates as your game-plan page you linked to is awesome.

Old Glory, somewhere in their fantasy line, guys in bearskins to.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.
