That is interesting news, thanks Joroas. I didn't know Warlord were thinking of getting into Napoleonics.

Oh excellent! They've got pictures on their site! And we only have to wait until October.

There is a part of me that is glad to see them work together and not all produce the same units, like Vikings or British infantry, however.

I have a few Calpe and I can see myself getting both Perry and Warlord plastics as well as more Calpe.

I hope that the plastic figures will attract more gamers to 28mm late Prussians on price if nothing else.I can see also those gamers looking to get the extra variety that Calpe brings when they subsequently look to expand their armies.
So possibly these plastics will increase Calpe sales in the long run

I think you're right there, Richard. Calpe will definitely be getting some business from me for the character models and extras they do. I might not be spending loads but it's money I wouldn't have spent if plastics hadn't made the project itself affordable. I hope it will be similar for a lot of people. I also hope they have a bit more luck with that casting machine. I'd love a brigade of Saxons for 1813 but I'm waiting for the Grenadiers and Light Infantry so I can do a whole brigade at once.

I think it is a pity that all this design talent is spent on plastics. I would like to see those sculpts in metal!  ;D ;D
Even with a low budget for wargaming, few have the time to paint the miniatures bought. I still remember the Airfix "yellow bayonet disease" and I HATE it  >:(

Probably many will disagree, so bring out the tar and feather, I am ready....

Not my bag, but I think those Landwehr look rather good. I suspect the losers here will be HaT, not Perry, as IIRC they had Landwehr in the pipeline.

I see where you're coming from, traveller, so the tar and feathers are staying put. I think we'll see metal versions of the Perry Prussians (like they did with the British Line Infantry) and don't forget that we're getting some brilliant metal ranges off the back of the plastic success, in the form of the supporting models for the plastic sets and Victrix's Portuguese and upcoming early Russians (which I don't think would have been commissioned without the plastics).

I agree that a lot of people won't have time to paint their ever-growing plastic piles, but I find I'm more willing to do faster/half-bothered paintjobs on cheaper minis without feeling that I'm wasting them. When I get these Prussians they'll be dipped with one or two highlights to get them on the table quickly.

@Carlos
I feel for Hat, its bad luck for them with these others coming out at the same time. I just wish they'd prioritise their SYW sets ahead of Napoleonics. No one is doing SYW and, as far as I know, no one else is planning to either -there would be no competition if they put them to the front of the queue. The single set of Prussian Infantry with hat options they're currently designing will cover a huge chunk of the various participants if you ignore the little differences in cuffs (Prussians, Hessians, Brunswick, Saxons, Reichsarmee).
