15 mm windows and doors
« on: August 31, 2010, 04:04:16 PM »
Who makes windows and doors in 15 mm?

I'm thinking in terms of residential and commercial windows and doors, flat castings that can be glued onto a flat surface (not the plastic model railroad type items I'm already familiar with) suitable for wild west setting buildings.  I need quite a few.

Maybe do some with computer graphics but want some with a more 3D feel to them as well.

Appreciate any assistance.  Thanks!

for my part I start by cutting the shape of my window/door in a sheet of hard paper, then I glue the balsa on the paper.
a photo of doors and windows before molding them.

They look great.

Are you going to sell these?

Cheers,

Antaak,

Can you enlighten me on the process you use to make your molds and the material you use to cast your molds?  I don't mind making a dozen masters and casting them but I'd be in a looney bin if I tried to make all the windows and doors I need for my wild west 15 mm town in progress.

Thanks.

i think that there are several good tutorials on utube, and also on hirst arts site! :)

silicon rubbers are pretty various, but all them are good for molding. you should try some to find the best for you.

sorry to be so late, but as Sangennaru said, I think you'll find what you want in the Hirst Arts page, there is a tuto to make molds, and links to rubber sellers (I will try the starter set from Micromark soon http://www.micromark.com/COMPLETE-RESIN-CASTING-STARTER-SET,8174.html)
I think you should try a 1 for 1 rubber (because it's easier to use)
