More Anglo Zulu War figures
« on: September 16, 2010, 10:17:38 PM »
Spent some time tonight flocking the last of the figures for this weekends big game. First off here are the Zulu casualty figures (Old Glory, weapons and shields from a variety of sources).

Again more casualties from Old Glory, the weapons and odd shields are again a mix of Foundry, Wargames Factory and Old Glory.

Perry Miniatures Naval Brigade, I bought another pack Sunday and will probably by the Gatling gun in the future.

Will get some better pictures of these when I have some annual leave and can spend some time getting all the lighting etc. right.

Some Foundry Brits from eBay, I touched these up and gave them some varnish and flock. These will bolster the British forces this weekend.

A couple of shots of the Naval Brigade command figures.

These are odd Zulus rescued from eBay, some married and some in ceremonial dress.

We'll try and get some in during tomorrows game.

The blue is GW Regal Blue, with a Baddab Black wash, then a little Fenris Grey drybrush. Then a coat of Army Painter strong tone brushed on, finally a spray with GW Varnish.

Very impressive. How do the Foundry figures compare to Perry and Old Glory?
I told you so. You damned fools.

I think they all mix well, with the Wargames Factory plastics too. Of course the Old Glory figures have the advantage of being dead.

Very nice painting Paul.

Those eBay Zulus aren't bad figures at all, although one or two of the shields look thick enough to be tablets of stone!  ;)

The plastic shields from Wargames Factory are the best for scale, spare spears etc also good for arming weaponless Foundry figures.

I love the look of the battlefield with casualty markers showing where the heavy fighting took place!

Very nicely painted and the bases are superb!

I tried that combo, except the Strong Tone, but for some reason mine doesn't look half as good. Maybe that might help!

Just can't do decent blues  :'(

Hi,
What colours are the sailors collars - are they regal blue with a lighter blue or white trim?

I'm also painting these figs are the moment and chose the same colours are yourself, but I cant find any shots of the backs to see what the collar looked like :-[

Modern ones are quite a light shade

As afr as I know, the 19thC colours would be pretty well identical.
