Yes, it is a very large wooden cross...I do like this figure, runnning forward with the club raised. GM figures are getting better and better with each  new release (and I'm not just saying that 'cas he's a mate! :D)

Lol, that makes more sense, though there were a few Christian Iroquois.

The more club and hatchet swinging natives the better!  Hopefully this is the beginning of an entire pack of them?

Well, there could be one...I better go back to the I spy woodland Indians book and read the chapter on how to recognise the different tribes in 3 easy steps...  ;)
